Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: September 4 – September 10, 2023

Against Volume 23, Bungou Stray Dogs Volume 24 has experienced a small fall in copies sold from 63,326 to 62,122, both in their first six days. Additionally, the latest volume has also sold less than Volume 19 to Volume 22, all with much lower days of sales that is three days while Volume 21 is at six days.

Not to forget, including its pre-release sales, which was 24,787 copies the week before, Volume 24’s lifetime sales is now at 86,909 copies. Assuming the better outcome for much of its earlier volumes, as mentioned above, may not have had their own pre-release sales, then Volume 24 may still be ahead of those volumes as the pre-release figures may have absorbed some of its debut sales that should have occurred the next seven days of sales.

Bungou Stray Dogs was initially adapted into a TV Anime series back in April 2016 by studio Bones who then returned to Animate the second season the same year in October. An OVA sequel, Hitori Ayumu was released the year after in August and the series’ 3^rd season aired from April to June 2019. The fourth season of the show was aired from January 4 to March 29, 2023 and the follow up season is currently airing as of the time of writing with the first episode released on July 12, 2023.

When compared to its 6th volume, Yuusha Party wo Tsuihou sareta Beast Tamer, Saikyoushu no Nekomimi Shoujo to Deau has sold 22.13% fewer copies, both of which in their first four days. The series was last seen with its 4th, 5th and 7th volumes in their first five days with a slight decline in sales observable since Volume 6.

Yuusha Party wo Tsuihou sareta Beast Tamer, Saikyoushu no Nekomimi Shoujo to Deau was adapted into a TV Anime series by EMT Squared which aired from October 2 to December 25, 2022.

Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi has consistently made its volume debuts onto Oricon’s Top 30 sales charts from Volume 1 to Volume 10, however, it has failed to do the same for Volume 11 amid strong competition, particularly against “Oshi no Ko” which was recording a strong performance as a result of its Anime adaptation. The 31,038 copies sold for the series’ 12th volume in its first seven days is still weaker than Volume 7’s 50,587 copies in its first seven days by 38.64%.

Studio CloverWorks will be adapting “Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi” into a TV Anime series, but as of the time of writing, the broadcast date is still unknown.

Akuyaku Reijou wa Dekiai Route ni Hairimashita!? was last seen with its 2nd volume at 26,789 copies sold in its first six days between March 6 and March 12, 2023. Its 3rd volume performance marks a strong improvement over its last.

Given Volume 9 has sold 59,194 copies in its first 10 days.

There are no direct comparisons for Isekai Kenja no Tensei Musou: Game no Chishiki de Isekai Saikyou against its 8th volume in four days. There is a slight decline in sales since Volume 4, however, against more recent volumes, the overall performance remains stable but fluctuates a little.

Sousei no Onmyouji continues on its strong decline path with Volume 32 not managing to register a strong rebound despite the seven days of sales which is the longest amongst its most recent volumes since Volume 26. Note that Volume 26 saw 27,977 copies sold in just 4 days whereas Volume 30 and Volume 31 were at 26,942 copies and 23,038 copies sold each in their first five days and six days.

Pierrot adapted Sousei no Onmyouji into a 50-episode TV Anime series that aired from April 6, 2016 to March 29, 2017.

Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu was seen with Volume 9 on TSUTAYA’s list between October 3 and October 9, 2022, but the volume failed to chart on Oricon’s sales chart for the same week. It then made its debut with Volume 10 on Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart selling 20,439 copies in its first three days, which is very likely due to a slight boost it received thanks to its Anime adaptation that also happened slightly before the volume was released. Note that Volume 11 marks a 1.09% decline in copies sold against its last volume.

Studio ENGI produced a 12-episode TV Anime series adaptation of “Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu,” which aired from April 3 to June 19, 2022. The series is set to receive a sequel, but as of the time of writing, the broadcast date and production studio responsible for the sequel have not been disclosed.

The Regular Edition of Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Volume 20 have reached 101,165 copies sold in its first 17 days.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 23 has reached 1,283,403 copies sold within its first 69 days.

2.5-jigen no Ririsa was seen with Volume 16 on COMIC ZIN’s chart in January 2023 within its first five days, however, it did not make it onto Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart for the same week. Then, the series made an appearance for Volume 17 at 18,218 copies sold in its first six days thanks to the low threshold the week between May 1 and May 7, 2023 possessed. The 18th volume’s 18,073 copies sold in its first seven days is not as good as its last.

The Anime adaptation of “2.5 Jigen no Ririsa” is currently in the works with J.C.Staff as the production studio. The broadcast is slated to happen some time in 2024.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 9: The JoJoLands Volume 1 has reached 218,901 copies sold in its first 24 days.
