Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: April 3 – April 9, 2023

During its six-day sales debut, Spy x Family Volume 11 sold 14.53% fewer copies than Volume 10, which had sold 773,785 copies in October 2022. Despite this decrease, Volume 11 still outperformed Volume 6, which sold 537,558 copies over seven days, and Volume 9, which sold 606,281 copies over seven days. While the sales intensity has somewhat lessened, Spy x Family Volume 11 is still performing well.

Wit Studio and CloverWorks adapted the first half of the Manga into a 12-episode TV Anime series in April this year, and the second part of the Anime is aired from October 1 to December 24, 2022. The series is expecting a sequel to land in Fall 2023, then a film in December 22, 2023, both will be produced by the same studios.

Chainsaw Man Volume 14 has achieved the series’ best six-day sales performance since Volume 6, selling 260,183 copies. This marks an increase of 108.87% and 11.22% compared to Volume 8 and Volume 12, which sold 124,568 copies and 233,928 copies, respectively. However, Volume 14’s sales performance is not as good as Volume 11’s 328,038 copies sold in four days or Volume 13’s 284,558 copies sold in five days.

MAPPA adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series which aired from October 12 to December 28, 2022.

Sakamoto Days Volume 11 has seen a significant increase in sales compared to Volume 5, both during their respective first six days of sales. Volume 11 sold 72,633 copies, which is 100.38% more than the 36,247 copies sold by Volume 5 back in January 2022. While the average daily sales of Volume 11 were lower than the average daily sales of Volume 9, with 12,106 copies sold per day over six days compared to Volume 9’s 15,146 copies sold per day over three days, it is still a strong performance. If Volume 11’s momentum had continued into day 7, it could have become the series’ best-performing volume to date.

Grand Blue Volume 20 has seen a significant drop in sales compared to two past volumes with a four-day sales period. Volume 20 sold 68,045 copies, which is 32.95% and 26.38% less than Volume 12’s 101,488 copies and 92,431 copies, respectively. It is worth noting that Volume 12 went on sale shortly after the end of its Anime broadcast in September 2018, which may have contributed to its strong sales. Volumes 17 and 20, on the other hand, were released several years after the Anime’s broadcast. Since Volume 18, sales have not been as strong, indicating a decline in the sales trend.

In 2018, the title was adapted into a 12-episode TV Anime series by Zero-G and a live-action film was released in 2020 starring Ryo Ryusei and Yuki Yoda.

Mashle Volume 16 sold 48,934 copies in its first 6 days, a 13.97% decrease compared to Volume 13’s 56,878 copies sold in the same time frame. Despite the ongoing Anime adaptation, Volume 16 did not experience a significant increase in sales when compared to Volume 9 and 10, which sold 43,650 and 42,083 copies respectively in their first 3 days. However, it is possible that sales will improve later on during the Anime’s airing or after its conclusion.

Mashle is being adapted into a TV Anime series that began its broadcast from April 8, 2023, which is produced by A-1 Pictures.

Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken – Yuusha Avan to Gokuen no Maou Volume 7’s sales of 37,677 copies sold in its first 6 days are not as impactful as Volume 3’s 30,069 copies sold in its first 4 days. Overall, copies sold for the series have remained stable from Volume 3 to Volume 7.

The Manga did not chart on Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart for Volume 8, but it appeared for Volume 7 and 9 at 28,983 copies in 4 days and 34,261 copies in 5 days, respectively.

This is Gokurakugai’s first ever appearance on Oricon Top 30 sales chart.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 22 has sold 1,210,681 copies in its first 38 days.

When compared to Volume 4, which also had four days of sales, Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi Volume 10 has sold 30.87% fewer copies. Sales for the latest volume are also not as strong as Volume 9, which sold 32,878 copies in its first five days, and would have a hard time overtaking Volume 5’s 50,587 copies sold in its first seven days.

Studio CloverWorks will be adapting “Nige Jouzu no Wakagimi” into a TV Anime series, but as of the time of writing, the broadcast date is still unknown.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen Volume 14’s Regular Edition has sold 75,315 copies in its first 10 days.

Copies sold for Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru Volume 11‘s Regular Edition have now hit 219,229 in its first 16 days.

One Piece Volume 105 has sold 1,674,409 copies in its first 38 days.

Honey Lemon Soda Volume 22 has sold 130,538 copies in its first 17 days.

Yozakura-san Chi no Daisakusen was last seen with Volume 10 on Oricon’s Top 30 list at 28,427 copies sold in its first 7 days.

The Regular Edition of Shuumatsu no Walküre Volume 18 has achieved 164,881 copies sold in its first 21 days.

Wind Breaker was last seen with Volume 10 at 26,344 copies sold, not in its first 3 days but in the next 7 days of sales in January 2023.

“Wind Breaker” is set to be adapted into a TV Anime series by studio CloverWorks, although the broadcast date is currently unknown as of the time of writing.

Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu was last seen with Volume 9 on TSUTAYA’s list between October 3 and October 9, 2022, but the volume failed to chart on Oricon’s sales chart for the same week.

Studio ENGI produced a 12-episode TV Anime series adaptation of “Otome Game Sekai wa Mob ni Kibishii Sekai desu,” which aired from April 3 to June 19, 2022. The series is set to receive a sequel, but as of the time of writing, the broadcast date and production studio responsible for the sequel have not been disclosed.

Kujou no Taizai Volume 8 has reached 49,897 copies sold in its first 11 days.

Ao no Orchestra Volume 11 has sold 35,889 copies in its first 10 days.

There are no direct comparisons with Yowamushi Pedal Volume 83 in its first three days. However, looking at its average sales per day, its latest performance is not as strong as its past volumes. For instance, Volume 74 sold an average of 7,802 copies per day in its first five days, while Volume 80 sold an average of 6,961 copies per day in its first four days. In comparison, Volume 83 sold an average of 6,166 copies per day. It’s worth noting that as the number of sales days increase, the average per day tends to decrease. Therefore, this suggests that had Volume 83 been sold for a few more days, it would not have performed as well as its predecessors.

Yowamushi Pedal was adapted into a 38-episode TV Anime series in October 2013, produced by TMS Entertainment, which was followed by several seasons. The latest season, titled ‘Limit Break’, ended on March 26, 2023.

The Regular Edition of the volume has sold 251,391 copies in its first 25 days.
