Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: September 4 – September 10, 2023

Units sold for all hardware brands have noted a decline week-over-week with the Xbox Series suffering the largest setback of 34.55%, sending total units sold down to 4,375 units from 6,685 units the week before. Switch and PlayStation 5 were mixed, though were heavily dragged by sales of Switch OLED and PlayStation 5 vanilla edition causing total units sold to tumble 3.80% and 16.26% respectively to 80,057 units and 43,623 units each. PlayStation 4 fell 15.08% to 828 units whereas New 2DS LL experienced a 5.41% decrease in units sold to just 35 units.

The Top 10 list witnessed two new releases with The Quintessential Quintuplets: Five Promises Made with Her at Number 2 with 10,720 copies sold in its first four days. Note that the game is also out on the PlayStation 4 platform and may see it chart in the lower 11 to 30 tomorrow (as of the time of writing). Based on the Manga by Negi Haruba, the game sees you take control of Futaro Uesugi as he tries to build up relationships by interacting with the Nakano sisters. The game will have more than one ending depending on the choices made throughout the game. For more information about the title, do watch its launch trailer below.

Head over to Number 4 and you will find Shuuen no Virche -EpiC：lycoris- at 8,633 copies sold in its first four days. The game focuses on a small country surrounded by the ocean called “Alpciel” and is inhabited by people who are born with the “curse of death”. In the game, you play as Ceres as she stumbles upon the many mysteries present in the country. Check out the game trailer below for more information about the game.
