Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: August 21 – August 27, 2023 (Updated)

Katainaka no Ossan, Kensei ni Naru was last seen with its 3rd volume back between March 20 and March 26, 2023, at 79,447 copies sold in its first week. Prior to that, the series made an appearance on COMIC ZIN’s list with its 2^nd volume back in June 2022. The latest volume marks a great improvement in sales over its last.

JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken Part 9: The JoJoLands Volume 1 has reached 172,402 copies sold in its first 10 days.

This is Bocchi the Rock!‘s first ever debut appearance on any of the lists the Blog tracks. The series, however, has made numerous appearances, particularly on COMIC ZIN’s lists with its backlogs after its Anime adaptation was broadcasted.

Please take note that there are a number of special sets released for Volume 6 such as the Gamers’ Super Limited Set that comes with an original t-shirt and an acrylic figure and the regular Limited Set that comes with an acrylic figure plus a mini art board, then the Animate Set that comes with a big acrylic key chain, which their sales are very likely not included here.

In terms of copies sold, Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Volume 20 (including its Special Edition volume at Number 8) has noted a decline of 17.56% and 4.04% against Volume 14 and Volume 18, all in their first three days. Nevertheless, the latest volume should have a greater advantage in terms of revenue when compared to the two volumes. With the 27,416 copies sold for its Special Edition volume, the total copies sold for Jibaku Shounen Hanako-kun Volume 20 stood at 64,189, grossing 60,058,072 yen (≈412.94 thousand USD) in revenue.

The Manga was adapted into a 12-episode TV anime series in January 2020 by Lerche. A new Anime project is in the works, although few details have been released at this time of writing.

Skip to Loafer last made an appearance with its 8th volume selling 19,520 copies in its first week between January 23 and January 29, 2023. The 9th volume marks a 74.68% increase over the previous volume which is a major improvement considering its fewer number of days of sales here.

The series was adapted into a TV Anime series by P.A. Works that aired from April 4 to June 20, 2023.

Chainsaw Man Volume 15 has sold 345,220 copies in its first 24 days.

Kaijuu 8-gou Volume 10 has achieved 324,729 copies sold in its first 24 days.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 23 has reached 1,242,926 copies sold within its first 55 days.

Sakura, Saku. was previously seen with its 7th volume at 32,334 copies sold in its first six days between April 24 and April 30, 2023. Before that it made an appearance with Volume 6 on TSUTAYA’s list between December 26 and January 1, 2023, not in its first three days of release, but in the next seven days. Copies sold were too low at the time to see it chart on Oricon Top 30 sales chart. Prior to that, it has made consistent appearances on Oricon’s Top 30 from Volume 3 to Volume 5. The 24,328 copies sold for its 8th volume in four days represents a slight decrease in intensity against its last volume.

Youjo Senki Volume 28‘s 23,619 copies sold in its first three days is the series’ weakest performer among volumes with the same number of days since Volume 22. The latest volume is down by 31.44% and 19.09% against Volume 22 and Volume 26 and has only noted a small improvement against the two-day sales of Volume 27. Since Volume 5, the series has been experiencing a drop in physical sales (in terms of their debut performances) via stores tracked by Oricon.

In 2017, it received a 12-episode TV Anime series adaptation by studio Nut, which was then followed by a sequel film adaptation in February 2019. Another sequel is planned for release on an unannounced date with studio Nut set to return to helm the project.

Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoushi Volume 17 has sold 36,133 copies in its first 10 days.

One Piece Volume 106 has reached 1,578,973 copies sold within its first 55 days.

Mokushiroku no Yonkishi Volume 13 has reached 46,595 copies sold in its first 11 days.

This is the first appearance for Bocchi the Rock! Anthology Comic on Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart. It missed out on a placement for Volume 1 back in October 2022.

The 2nd volume also comes with a Gamers Limited Set, priced at 1,980 yen (about 14 USD) of which its sales may not be counted here.

Drifters Volume 7 has reached 210,872 copies sold in its first 18 days.

Loop 7-kaime no Akuyaku Reijou wa, Moto Tekikoku de Jiyuu Kimama na Hanayome Seikatsu wo Mankitsu suru last made an appearance with its 4th volume on TSUTAYA’s list in its first two days between February 20 and February 26, 2023. The volume unfortunately failed to chart on Oricon’s Top 30 chart for the same week.

Additionally, Studio Kai and HORNETS will be adapting the work into a TV Anime series which is set to broadcast some time in 2024.

Kakkou no Iinazuke Volume 18 has achieved 43,730 copies sold in its first 11 days.

“Oshi no Ko” Volume 12 has reached 415,260 copies sold in its first 40 days.

This is Kanchigai no Atelier Meister‘s first ever appearance on Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart.

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun Volume 15‘s Regular Edition has reached 153,099 copies sold within its first 18 days.

Shounan Bakusouzoku First Flag Volume 2 has achieved 30,037 copies sold in its first 10 days.
