It is thanks to the wonderful people over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! Plus, all the data you find below is accessible via Oricon right here (Blu-ray) and here (DVD). To access the sales data, be sure to click on the “Analytics” accordion and then click “Chart”. This should bring you to the Google chart page that contains the latest available sales data.
Please note that Oricon’s daily surveys do not cover all stores in Japan, and some data may be missing from the list provided below. To view the list of stores that participate in Oricon’s surveys, please refer to the link provided. If you would like to learn more about Oricon and their tracking methods, you may find additional information here. While I have manually counted the number of stores included in the list below, please be aware that there may be some errors, and not all stores are listed on official websites as many are exclusive sets listed to certain retailers. Therefore, it’s important to keep in mind that the number of stores counted may not fully reflect all retailers that sell the product.
The week turned out to be quite disappointing for Anime disc sales, with a lack of major new releases and stiff competition from non-Anime titles. As a result, the overall performance was rather bleak as none of the releases for Blu-ray made it onto the general chart. There is hope for a slight improvement in the following week (May 15 to May 21), but it is particularly important to closely monitor the sales performance during the week between May 22 and May 28 since many big names will drop that week.
For both Blu-ray and DVD, the cut-off point on the general charts was 871 copies and 543 copies respectively. Therefore, any releases indicated as “N/A” below have sold fewer copies than the specified amount.
