The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom tops the weekly software list with a massive 1,119,502 copies sold in just three days. To compare, when The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was released back in March 2017, it was estimated to have sold 193,060 copies in three days. This represents a 479.87% increase in debut-to-debut sales. According to an official press release from Nintendo, the total worldwide sales have now reached 10 million copies in three days, with 2.24 million copies sold in Japan alone (Famitsu’s numbers do not include digital sales). The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom serves as the direct sequel to its predecessor released in 2017 and is set in the land of Hyrule, where players control Link as he defends the kingdom against evil forces. For more information, you can watch the launch trailer below.

Regarding other past titles on the Top 10, most of them experienced a decline in sales except for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild as Japan exited its Golden Week holiday period. The latter title is likely receiving a boost from the release of the sequel game,
