Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: September 27, 2021 to October 3, 2021

Sales of Video Game hardware for the week between September 27 to October 3 have retreated from previous week’s gains as most consoles register fewer units sold. Both PlayStation 5 consoles are affected the most as they could only see 12,822 units sold, down from prior week’s 26,481 units. Playstation 4 too have dropped below the 1,000 mark as sales receded week-on-week by 43.14%. Switch machines have a modest fall of 11.59% and 16.26% respectively. Xbox Series consoles are the only ones to see an improvement in the number of units sold with Xbox Series S noting another weekly rise of 42.06% from 1,601 units sold the week before to 2,763 units.

It has been awhile since we last saw PlayStation 4 titles taking up this many spots as four titles are placed side by side from Number 1 to Number 4. The week sees the latest addition to the Legend of Heroes series, Kuro no Kiseki at the forefront with 50,114 copies sold for the week. If you are familiar with the title, and have played previous titles such as the The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Cold Steel, you definitely would not want to miss this game out. This time, the setting has moved away from Erebonia and will take place in Calvard, a year after Trails into Reverie. Unfortunately, there has been no news of a global release as of yet. FIFA 22 places 2nd with its PlayStation edition at 25,936 copies while its Switch edition can be found at Number 5 with 13,385 copies sold for the week. That should put it at a comfortable 39,321 copies sold. The game is the 29th installment of Electronic Arts FIFA series which is also out on PC.

Delightworks’ Melty Blood: Type Lumina places both 4th and 6th places at 18,833 copies and 11,604 copies sold respectively. This particular title is connected to Tsukihime, however takes place 10 days before A Piece of Blue Glass Moon. Also, do not miss the announcement trailer below if you are interested in the title.

Past titles have seen a drop in number of copies sold with the PlayStation 4 edition of Lost Judgment: Unjudged Memory falling the hardest, 81.77% week-on-week while the PlayStation 5 edition is nowhere to be found on the Top 10. Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot + Arata naru Kakusei Set is down 7 spots to place 9th for the week at 9,897 copies sold. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
