TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN Weekly Tankoubon Sales Ranking via Natalie: July 26, 2021 to August 1, 2021

Well, there are no new releases placed on TSUTAYA’s chart for the week between July 26 to August 1. The list is dominated by Tokyo Revengers‘ volumes occupying 9 out of the 10 spots with Kingdom Volume 62 remaining steady at Number 2, and Tokyo Revengers Volume 23 retaining its crown. The week will also be a crucial one for Kingdom to see if it is able to hit the level shown by volumes that came before Volume 61. Three-week sales for Volume 55 to Volume 60 were above 600,000 copies which is achievable given that the 174,555 copies it sold the week before for Volume 62 allowed it to see its two-week sales at 524,417 copies sold, 4.30% better than Volume 61 in the same period.

It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Natalie.mu that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! Although the week is certainly a slow one, COMIC ZIN does feature two new releases that you may be familiar with. Akihito Tsukushi’s Made in Abyss places 1st on the chart for the week while its anthology follow suit at Number 2. Note that Seven Seas Entertainment is publishing the anthology in the west with three of its volumes now up for grabs. The series also received an Anime adaptation by Kinema Citrus in 2017 and three films were releases soon after. Then, this year, it was announced that the title will be receiving a sequel to its TV series in 2022. In addition, Volume 9 debuted last year to see 80,936 copies sold in its first week. We can expect it to sell around the same.

At Number 3 is panpanya’s Sakana Shakai. The author has worked on several titles which include Ashizuri Suizokukan and Kani ni Sasowarete. Hakusensha released an artwork of the new title via its Twitter account which can be seen down below. However, more of the author’s arts are made available through the author’s website right here, so do check them out!

Look over to Number 4 and you will find Nobunaga no Shinobi by Naoki Shigeno which was adapted into Anime in 2016 by TMS Entertainment. The Anime then received follow-up seasons in the subsequent years with the third TV season being its last. If you missed out on the Anime, feel free to check out the promotional video down below.

A fairly new title, Ginshio Shoushou Volume 1 shares the spot with Nobunaga no Shinobi. The author Nicomi Wakadori has worked on two other titles before and has participated in the anthology comic ‘Slow Start’. One spot below is Yoshiharu Mishima’s Kodama Maria Bungaku Shuusei Volume 3. If you are interested in the work, you can actually check out Chapter 1 which is available for free in Japanese. Yuka Santou’s Sparrow’s Hotel comes in 7th. Like Nobunaga no Shinobi, it too was adapted into Anime back in 2013.

Number 8 and 9 are occupied by Wakadanna wa Zannen‘s Volume 2 and Volume 3. Koike Sadaji previously worked on Chichi to Hige-Gorilla to Watashi and a slew of other titles. You can check out some of its Chapter 1 preview right here. Finally, Gunshi: Kuroda Kanbeeden Volume 5 settles for the 10th place.
