Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: January 15 – January 21, 2024 (Updated)

Strong sales for the PlayStation 5 consoles have allowed the brand to register a strong market share for the week compared to Switch with it leading 55.6% whereas the latter at 42.0%.

Total sales for the PlayStation consoles saw a major climb of 58.61% to 57,903 units sold for the week whilst Switch consoles being the only one on a retreat, recording a small drop of 6.25% to 43,692 units.

As for the others, the Xbox Series gained 62.20% to close at 1,888 units. PlayStation 4 and New 2DS LL both reported modest jumps in units sold at 10.32% and 14.29% respectively to end at 620 units and 16 units each.

Only one new release that has made it onto the Top 10 list for the week with Arc System Works’ (UNDER NIGHT IN-BIRTH II Sys:Celes, Ground Divers!, DNF Duel etc.) Another Code: Recollection taking the 4th spot at 15,741 copies sold in its first three days. The game is a remake of the 2005 and 2009’s titles: Another Code: Two Memories and Another Code: R – A Journey into Lost Memories which were developed by Cing featuring updated graphics, fully explorable environments, an all new voice acting, puzzles, and music. As for the lower 11 to 30, The Last of Us Part II Remastered makes its debut at Number 13 with 4,364 copies sold in its first three days. The remastered edition of the 2020 game comes with visual improvements and new modes and content among others.
