Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: December 18 – December 24, 2023

Unlike its 10th and 11th volumes, Black Lagoon Volume 13 only sees its Regular Edition on the Top 30 and Top 50 lists for the week. Considering the cutoff point on the Top 50 chart for the week was about 16,500 copies, we can assume that the Special Edition may have sold within the range of 15,000 copies to 16,000 copies.

Then again, even if its Special Edition is included, Volume 13 is still lower than the performances seen from Volume 9 to Volume 11, all in their first weeks, and selling more than 200,000 copies. Volume 13’s Regular and Special Editions would at most put its total performance at about 115,000 copies, far lower than the aforementioned volumes.

The Special Edition of the volume comes with 14 acrylic stands and is priced at 6,300 yen (about 44 USD).

Black Lagoon was adapted into a 12-episode TV Anime series by studio Madhouse that aired from April 9 to June 25, 2006. The studio returned to animate its sequel titled “The Second Barrage” that broadcast the same year from October 3 to December 19. Another sequel was then released in OVA format from June 27, 2010 to June 22, 2011, also by the same studio.

Chiikawa: Nanka Chiisakute Kawaii Yatsu Volume 6 performance here is great. The four-day sales sees the volume net a total of 169,235 copies with total revenue at 344,297,400 yen (≈2.44 million USD), almost two times more than what Sousou no Frieren Volume 12 did last week and this week.

Additionally, the performance here puts its previous two volumes to shame with Volume 4 and Volume 5 selling 71,099 copies and 135,699 copies in their first three days and seven days. This shows that the series is being well received in Japan.

Chiikawa is being adapted into a short one minute per episode Anime by studio Doga Kobo which has been ongoing since April 4, 2022.

The series sold 135,699 copies for Volume 5 (including its Special Edition) within a week of sales between January 23 and January 29, 2023.

This edition comes with a stamp book.

Uma Musume Cinderella Gray continues to be under pressure in terms of physical sales in Japan via stores tracked by Oricon. The latest volume’s outcome represents another drop in performance with 18.72% less copies sold than Volume 12. Further comparisons also sees Volume 13 at a much lower performance than the 148,572 copies sold for Volume 4 in its first five days and the 115,060 copies sold for Volume 5 in its first three days.

The 13th volume of Dungeon Meshi has sold 189,388 copies in its first 10 days.

Major 2nd Volume 27 has not done well when compared to its past volumes with shorter days of sales. Note that Volume 22 to Volume 24 all did 61,309 copies, 54,607 copies and 49,917 copies in their first four days whilst Volume 25 sold 43,771 copies in its first five days.

Major 2^nd was adapted into a 25-episode TV Anime series by OLM that aired from April to September 2018. The same studio returned to produce the second season that aired from April 2020 to November 2020.

The 13th volume of Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu Volume 13 has experienced an 8.34% jump in copies sold against Volume 11’s 32,015 copies, both in their first week. However, the latest volume’s outcome this time around is not as good as the 37,342 copies sold achieved by Volume 10 in its first six days and the 36,871 copies sold by Volume 12 in its first three days.

Studio C2C adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series that aired between July and September of 2021. A sequel to the Anime series is in the works and will air from January 8 2024. That said, studio C2C will not be returning to work on the show and the baton was passed over to studio J.C.Staff.

Choujin X Volume 8 has recorded a 7.57% drop in copies sold against Volume 7’s 33,231 copies, both in their first six days. Volume 8 has also performed poorly when compared to some of its past volumes, especially Volume 1 at 33,113 copies in three days, Volume 3 at 43,779 copies in five days and Volume 5 at 36,800 copies in four days.

Tsuiraku JK to Haijin Kyoshi was adapted into a live-action drama series that aired from April 7 to June 2, 2023 on the MBS network starring Hashimoto Ryo and Takaishi Akari.

Isekai Yakkyoku Volume 10 has noted a small increase in performance when compared to the six-day sales of Volume 8 at 23,399 copies. In between, the series sold 29,218 copies for Volume 9 in its first seven days.

Isekai Yakkyoku received a 12-episode TV Anime adaptation by studio Diomedéa that aired from July 10 to September 25, 2022.

Tonikaku Kawaii last made its appearance with Volume 25 placing 4th in its first three days on COMIC ZIN’s list between September 11 and September 17, 2023 .

The title was adapted into a TV Anime series in October 2020 by studio Seven Arcs with a Special episode released the same year in December. It then received an OVA titled “SNS” in August 2021 and another Special episode titled “Seifuku” that aired on November 22, 2022. In April 2023, studio Seven Arcs returned to animate the 2nd season which ended its broadcast on June 24 that same year. The season was followed up by Joshikou-hen, ONA sequel episodes which were released from July 12 to August 23, 2023.
