The week between June 27 and July 3 will be a slow one with few notable and new releases making it onto the Top 20 TSUTAYA chart. Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite is 4th on the list with its final volume at 4 days of sales. The Manga series by Uoto first began serialization in September 2020 and concluded its journey in April this year. Serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits, more information about the work can be accessed via its official page right here, and through the same page, you can also give its first chapter a read in Japanese here. This Manga in particular is an interesting one. First, its sales performance is not too shabby in Japan having consistently placed on the Top 30 since Volume 4. Sales peaked for Volume 7 when it noted 49,311 copies sold in its first 5 days, a 27.90% direct improvement over Volume 4. The sales of its 7th volume were also much better than the 38,630 copies sold for Volume 6 in its first 6 days. It had won one major award in the course of its serialization, that being the Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes for the year 2022 (Source: ANN). It also placed 2nd on both 14th Manga Taisho Awards and Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2022 last year (Source: ANN, ANN). Note that the series has surpassed 2.5 million copies in print as of the time of writing (Source: here). Around a week ago, the series was announced to be receiving an Anime adaptation by Madhouse, though the exact date as to when it will happen is so far unknown (Source: ANN). So, do expect its 8th volume to go out strong in this coming Oricon sales chart. On June 30, the Japanese rock band, amazarashi released a music video that features the Manga of which you should not miss. The video can be watched down below.
Then, at Number 6 we have Blue Giant Explorer Volume 6, also in its first 4 days. The Manga has appeared continuously for its past three volumes, but copies sold for its 5th volume were not as good as Volume 3 despite having 7 days of sales as opposed to Volume 3’s 5 days. You can expect Volume 6 to see a turnout of around 40,000 copies to 50,000 copies sold. Sequel to the Blue Giant Supreme series that was serialized between September 2016 and April 2020, Blue Giant Explorer can be found in the Big Comic magazine where it has been serialized since May 2020. Its official page has more information about the work, plus its first chapter can be read for free in Japanese right here via the same page. Be sure to check it out! Not to forget, in November 2020, the series received a Special Movie by Universal Music Japan of which you can watch below. And as of its latest volume, printed circulation has passed 8.4 million copies (Source: here).
All of the data you find below is all thanks to TSUTAYA, one of Japan’s largest bookstores chain which has around 1,200 stores in its local market. You can check out their website here and show them lots of love! Plus, for the week’s chart, you can find it through the link right here. If Google charts are what you are more comfortable with, feel free to visit the respective chart via the link right at the bottom of the post.
Right below at Number 7 is Futsutsuka na Akujo dewa Gozaimasu ga: Suuguu Chouso Torikae Den Volume 3, the series’ first appearance on the chart, and note that it has not seen any placement on the Oricon sales charts either. Serialization for the work began in December 2020, and at the same time, it has a Light Novel that is being published under the same name. While its Light Novel is licensed by Seven Seas in English, its Manga is not. Nevertheless, you can still check out some of its chapters that have been made freely available right here in Japanese.

At Number 10 is the pre-release of Isekai Izakaya “Nobu” which is slated to be on sale on July 4. More about it will be discussed further once the official charts for the following week are out. In addition, the rise of Spy x Family Manga for the week may be attributable to two factors. One, it may be due to the lack of new releases, and another would be due to the end of its Anime broadcast. The latter is quite likely as well and may contribute to a boost in sales for the series for the week, however, we will only find out for sure once Oricon has published its charts for the week this Friday. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
