This would be one of the new changes that I have decided to make this year in 2022, and that is to separate TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN charts. That way we can have a look at all the Top 20 titles. Though the week’s chart is certainly lacking new faces, we get to see the return of Jujutsu Kaisen Manga volumes that place 13 out of the 20 spots with Volume 18 maintaining its Number 1 position. This is definitely a result of its film release which grossed at 2,000,000 USD in its opening weekend from 25th to 26th December. In fact we have already seen traces of a comeback the week before when Volume 17 and Volume 0 were ranked 13th and 20th at 50,147 copies and 41,924 copies sold respectively. Volume 18 made its debut at 667,857 copies sold that week too in just 2 days.
The chart you find below is all thanks to TSUTAYA, which is one of Japan’s largest bookstores with around 1,200 stores in Japan alone, plus nine in Taiwan and China. There is only one new release that can be found on the list between December 27 to January 2, and that would be the 6th volume of Chi.: Chikyuu no Undou ni Tsuite. The title last made its appearance back in June with 38,553 copies sold for Volume 4 in its first 5 days. Volume 5 was also found ranking 12th between September 27 to October 3 with 40,086 copies sold in its first 4 days and charting again the week after at 26,288 copies. The title by Uoto is published in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits and began serialization in September of 2020. It also placed 10th on the Next Manga Awards 2021 for the Print Manga Category.
