TSUTAYA Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: September 5 – September 11, 2022

There are quite a number of new releases on TSUTAYA’s Top 20 sales chart for the week between September 5 to September 11, though past titles are still plenty. Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko Volume 9 takes the lead among the new releases to place 2nd on the chart in its first 5 days. The Manga has successfully penetrated Oricon’s Top 30 sales charts for its past two volumes with Volume 7 at 79,328 copies sold and Volume 8 at 70,020 copies sold in their first 7 days. Since Volume 9 will have shorter days of sales, copies sold will be much less than the past two and should hover around 50,000 copies to 60,000 copies sold. The Manga is an adaptation of the Light Novel of the same name and is serialized in Square Enix’s Manga UP! More information about the work, plus some of its chapters can be read for free right here in Japanese through its official Manga web page. You can also obtain further information on its official Light Novel web page here. It received a 12-episode TV Anime adaptation by Maho Film in October 2020 and a sequel is planned on an unannounced date. According to its official Anime website, the series has so far more than 1.6 million copies in circulation.

MF Ghost makes its latest and 15th volume debut at Number 3 here in its first 6 days. There are no direct comparisons available with its past volumes since none of them charted at 6 days of sales since Volume 6, though it may be able to push out approximately 60,000 to 70,000 copies sold based on the performances of Volumes 10 and 12 which were in their first 5 days and 7 days respectively. The work by Shuuichi Shigeno, the same author of Initial D, has been in serialization since September 2017 and can be found in Kodansha’s Weekly Young Magazine. You can get more information about the work on its official web page here and read its first chapter for free in Japanese. According to the same page, the series has passed 3.6 million copies in circulation. The series will be adapted into a TV Anime series by Felix Film which is set to broadcast some time in 2023. In the meantime, you can watch its latest teaser video down below in case you missed it.

Number 4 is Yuusha Party wo Tsuihou sareta Beast Tamer, Saikyoushu no Nekomimi Shoujo to Deau Volume 7 in its first 5 days and is expected to hit closer to sales of Volumes 4 or 5. Note that the two volumes were also charted in their first 5 days at 47,246 copies and 49,292 copies sold. The series initially began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou back in June 2018 and was officially published by Kodansha in May 2019. It received its Manga adaptation prior to that in January 2019. Serialized in Square Enix’s Manga UP!, more about the work can be learned via its official web page here, and if you would like to see how its Manga look like, feel free to check out its first chapter for free right here in Japanese. The series has so far amassed 1 million copies in circulation as of its Light Novel Volume 6 according to Kodansha. The title is set to receive a TV Anime series adaptation by EMT Squared which will soon begin its broadcast on October 2. You can watch its Anime’s second promotional video down below.

Next, at Number 5 is Isekai Kenja no Tensei Musou: Game no Chishiki de Isekai Saikyou Volume 6 in its first 5 days which may see push out around 40,000 copies sold. It last did so with Volume 4 at 42,407 copies in its first 5 days. The Manga is also an adaptation of its Light Novel of the same name which originally began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on September 29, 2018. It was then officially published by SB Creative in April 2019. The Manga adaptation came a little later in October the same year and is serialized in Square Enix’s Manga UP! You can find more information about the work right here along with some of its Manga chapters available for free in Japanese.

All of the data you find below is all thanks to TSUTAYA, one of Japan’s largest bookstores chain which has around 1,200 stores in its local market. You can check out their website here and show them lots of love! Plus, for the week’s chart, you can find it through the link right here. If Google charts are what you are more comfortable with, feel free to visit the respective chart via the link right at the bottom of the post.

Head three spots below and you will find Kenja no Mago Volume 20 at Number 8 in its first 3 days which should see it sell around 20,000 copies sold or more if all goes well. The Manga adapts the Light Novel of the same name which began as a web novel on Shousetsuka ni Narou on January 2, 2015. In July the same year, Kadokawa officially released its 1st volume. The title was then serialized as a Manga in March 2016 in Young Ace UP with more information about it available right here on its official web page. You can also read some of its chapters for free in Japanese there but click here to access its 1st chapter. SILVER LINK. adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series in April 2019. According to its latest Manga volume cover, the series has now more than 7 million copies in circulation including digital. You can also watch a short video released by KADOKAWA four years ago to promote the series below.

Uzaki-chan wa Asobitai! is 9th on the list with its 9th volume in its first 3 days which should allow it to sell close to 50,000 copies or more based on the performances of its 4th and 7th volumes. The Manga by Take has been serialized since December 2017 and can be found in Dra-Dra-Dragon Age magazine. More information about the work can be learned from its official web page here whereas some of its chapters can be read for free in Japanese right here. According to a post on its official Twitter account, the Manga now has more than 2 million copies in circulation including digital. In July 2020, ENGI (KADOKAWA owns the studio by 53.0%) adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series with a follow up season planned for broadcast this October 1st. If you missed out on the promotional video of its latest Anime season, be sure to watch it below!

Mahoutsukai no Yome Volume 18’s Regular Edition takes the 12th spot at 3 days of sales while its Limited Edition failed to place a spot, though it may very likely appear on Oricon’s upcoming Top 30 chart. Note that the Limited Edition of the volume will come with the last part of the OAD, Nishi no Shounen to Seiran no Kishi and costs 4,527 yen (≈32 USD) a piece. Total copies sold for both editions should allow the volume to sell between 40,000 copies to 45,000 copies. Its recent volumes’ performances have indicated a downtrend in physical copies sold but fret not as Mag Garden sold more Manga digitally than physically during the fiscal year of 2022 (Oricon only tracks physical sales). According to IG Port’s FY2022 filings, digital sales take up 67% of its total Publishing Business. The work by Kore Yamazaki has been serialized since November 2013 and can be found in Comic Garden with more information about the title can be discovered here via its official web page. Its first chapter can be read for free in Japanese right here, so do check it out! Wit Studio (which is owned by IG Port by 66.7%) adapted the work into a 24-episode TV Anime series in October 2017, however, the studio will not return to animate its planned sequel, instead the project has been handed over to Twin Engine’s Studio Kafka. Mahoutsukai no Yome Season 2 is slated for broadcast in April 2023 and according to its Season 2’s teaser trailer, the series has passed 10 million copies in circulation.

At Number 14 is Yoku Wakaranai keredo Isekai ni Tensei shiteita you desu Volume 13 in its first 4 days and has made several appearances before for its past volumes, but it failed to find a place on Oricon’s Top 30 for Volume 12. The work is an adaptation of the Light Novel of the same name and has been serialized in Suiyoubi no Sirius since October 2019. More information about the title can be found here via its official page whereas some of its Manga chapters can be read for free on Comic Days. According to its latest volume cover, the series has passed 1.7 million copies in circulation including digital.
