Shuumatsu no Walküre Volume 16’s Regular Edition comes in 2nd on TSUTAYA’s list for the week between September 19 and September 25 in its first 6 days. Prior to this, the Manga has successfully placed on Oricon’s Top 30 charts since Volume 6, though it has so far not made its debut with 6 days of sales. Based on its performance of Volume 15, which sold 169,161 copies, the latest volume should be able to hit around 150,000 copies sold or more if all goes well. Shuumatsu no Walküre has been in serialization on Coamix’s Comic Zenon since November 2017 with some of its Manga chapters available for reading in Japanese right here for free. Note that it is also being officially released in English by Viz Media with Volumes 4 and 5 up for pre-orders. It was also adapted into a 12-episode ONA in June 2021 with a sequel planned for release in 2023. The series is said to have more than 12 million copies in circulation (Source: PressWalker).
Then, at Number 4 is Akatsuki no Yona Volume 39 in its first 6 days as well. The series previously sold 64,505 copies in its first 6 days for Volume 35 and is expected to record more or less a similar turnout. The Manga by Mizuho Kusanagi has been serialized since August 2009 in Hakusensha’s Hana to Yume with more information about the work can be found on its official webpage here. It is also available officially in English with Volume 37 hitting shelves this October 4th. The series has more than 14 million copies in circulation according to Yahoo. In 2014, the title received a 24-episode TV Anime series adaptation by Pierrot and three OVA episodes released between September 2015 and December 2016. You can also watch a short video released by Hakusensha in April 2021 to promote the series down below.
Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru is 5th on the list with the Regular Edition of its 10th volume in its first 2 days. As per available data, the series has so far not charted on Oricon’s Top 30 at 2 days of sales, however, after the end of its Anime’s broadcast, a huge spike in sales were recorded for its 9th volume. To compare, the 8th volume was charted at 7 days of sales, whereas Volume 9 was at 3 days of sales. Despite the shorter days of sales of Volume 9, the volume still managed to sell 38,580 copies more than Volume 8. I suspect, if the momentum continues to stay strong, which it most likely will, it may be able to hit close to or more than 100,000 copies sold. The Manga by Shinichi Fukuda has been in serialization since January 2018 in Square Enix’s Young Gangan. With more than 7.5 million copies in circulation (Source: Natalie), more information about the title can be found on its official web page here along with its first chapter available for reading in Japanese here. You can also get its official English volumes by Square Enix Manga with up to Volume 8 available for pre-order as of the time of writing. In January 2022, CloverWorks adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series and this month, the official website of the Anime confirms that season two is in the works. You can watch the announcement video of its Anime sequel down below if you missed out on it.
