Not much of a surprise to see Tokyo Revengers Volume 24 sitting in at the top of the list. Ever since the Anime began its broadcasting, the series have been gaining massive traction in its local market where its volumes are seen, till now ranking on Oricon’s Top 30 list every week. Sales are indicative that a slow down has started as it hits maturity, though copies sold may get a slight boost for older volumes amid the Anime’s first season having come to an end. Volume 23 saw significant improvement over debut sales of Volume 22, climbing 71.77% to 222,469 copies in the week of its release. We can expect another huge increase, if all goes well, we may see it hitting close to or over 500,000 copies sold.

Of course, Tokyo Revengers is not the only new release on the list as TSUTAYA features a slew of others starting of with Dungeon Meshi‘s 11th volume at Number 2. Not looking good for the series however, as it is seeing fewer copies sold the past three volumes after peaking out at 273,037 copies for Volume 8 as of Week 2. The lower sales produced is understandable as the title had to compete with other more popular titles at the time of release especially Kimetsu no Yaiba (late 2019 and early 2020) and Jujutsu Kaisen (starting first half of 2020 till early 2021). With Tokyo Revengers still proving to be a challenge, it is crucial for the title to see better copies sold this time around.

Skip over to Number 6 is a series that has been making a more common appearance on the charts, Yubisaki to Renren. Volume 1 and Volume 2 had a rough start in their release weeks having to compete against Kimetsu no Yaiba that was going strong both in late 2019 and first half of 2020. The same cannot be said for Volume 3 and Volume 4, which both made their debuts at 55,758 copies and 47,718 copies sold respectively. We should see a similar turnout this time around based on Volume 4’s performance which was released recently back in March.
As for Shuumatsu no Walküre Volume 12 at Number 7, it is hard to say whether it will see any significant changes as the Anime did not help sales at the time of Volume 11’s release. The 11th volume in fact experienced a drop of 14.39% over debut sales of Volume 10. That said, it is set to receive an upcoming sequel on an unannounced date. Perhaps this can help push sales for Volume 12 a little further than Volume 10.

Golden Kamuy Volume 27 can be found at Number 8 for the week. Debut sales have been fluctuating since the highs of Volume 21’s 145,708 copies sold in its first week. Sales should see an increase on Week 2 if the turnout on its first week is not as high or vice versa.

Number 9 features JoJolion Volume 27. Two-week sales were great for Volume 21, which at the time recorded 141,480 copies sold. The title then could not produce a similar result as both Volume 22 and Volume 23 witnessed lackluster sales where the first failed to chart on Week 2 whereas the latter had only 46,403 copies sold in its debut week. Volume 25 though, remains its worst performer, not placing at all on Oricon’s Top 30 chart due to strong competition. Sales have recovered for Volume 26 to see two-week sales at a great 115,766 copies. We can expect a similar outcome for Volume 27.

On to COMIC ZIN’s list. Both spots 1 and 2 feature different titles to TSUTAYA where Golden Kamuy Volume 27 is the one leading the chart followed by Dungeon Meshi Volume 11. At Number 3 is Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai Volume 6 by Nene Yukimori. You might be familiar with the author’s other work, Ningen ni Koi shita Oni wa Warau. Kubo-san wa Mob wo Yurusanai is a work that began back in 2019, and up to Chapter 84 is currently available in Japan for read, and Manga Plus is having the chapters released simultaneously in English, for those of you interested do check it out right here!
Amano Megumi wa Sukidarake! and Kimi wa 008 are frequent to COMIC ZIN’s chart. The two’s Volume 26 and Volume 15 sit comfortably at Number 4 and Number 5 respectively. However, you may want to focus on Number 6’s Kakkou no Iinazuke Volume 8. The title noted fewer copies sold for its 7th volume by 12.89% over Volume 6’s 57,683 copies, and the Anime announcement that took place in April did not boost the sales of Volume 7 which at the time was released in July. It is doubtful if we would see a major change in debut sales, therefore it should see a similar turnout.

At Number 7 is Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi Volume 2, a fairly new title from Marcey Naitou. The title initially started as a oneshot in 2020, then it was officially serialized in 2021 through Kodansha’s Shuukan Shounen Magazine. For those of you interested, the first chapter is viewable here for free (in Japanese).

The first few pages of Amagami-san Chi no Enmusubi
Kimi no Koto ga Daidaidaidaidaisuki na 100-nin no Kanojo‘s Volume 7 can be found at Number 9, a title worked on by Rikito Nakamura and Yukiko Nozawa. The duo had previously worked on other titles before jumping into their latest work. The title is currently published through Shueisha’s Shounen Jump Plus magazine which can be accessed through its official page right here (in Japanese) where several of its chapters are available for free.
