It is not a surprised to see Jujutsu Kaisen sitting at the top of TSUTAYA’s chart after its pre-release sales went on to produce 72,865 copies sold in most likely just a day or two. Copies sold are expected to do extremely well in this 7 days of sales. The release of its 14th volume witnessed 637,308 copies sold in its first week, averaging at 91,044 copies a day at the time. Numbers have improved considerably for Volume 15 and Volume 16, both charting record sales in just 4 and 3 days of sales respectively. If copies sold goes on to sell roughly 200,000 copies sold a day, it can very well see 1.4 million copies sold, a likely turnout. However, a poll that I personally carried out on my Twitter page has followers looking at between 1.2 million to 1.3 million copies sold. With its printed circulation at 2.15 million copies sold alone for the volume, we can certainly expect a huge turnout.

It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Natalie.mu that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! Plus, all the data you find below is accessible via Natalie.mu right here. And of course, don’t forget to visit sites TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN by clicking on their names below as these lists would have not been possible if not for them!
On to Boku no Hero Academia Volume 32 which places 2nd for the week, we can expect good things out of the volume. Volume 31 did considerably well up against prior volumes such as Volume 25 and Volume 26, which both had 5 days of sales, equal to Volume 31 at the time it was charted. Copies sold for Volume 31 was at 378,661 copies sold, up from the two aforementioned volumes by 19.47% and 23.75%. Volume 29 had a full 7-day of sales when charted at 429,673 copies sold, averaging at 61,382 copies. If Volume 32 sees a slightly better average copies sold than Volume 29, it should be able to churn out a good 455,000 copies sold. Therefore, expect it to perform within that range.

Black Clover Volume 30 is next. Copies sold have not seen the light of day since the highs of Volume 22, which its first 3-day sales brought it 89,109 copies sold. Volumes 24, 25, 26, and 28 all had 3 days of sales too when charted on Oricon Top 30 chart, and yet number of copies sold stayed above 60,000 copies sold. Volume 29 is its weakest by far since Volume 22, debuting at only 55,942 copies sold in its first 3 days. A repeat of Volume 27’s 131,755 copies sold in its first week would put the potential number of copies sold for Volume 30 at between 126,000 copies to 130,000 copies. Less, we may see around 112,000 copies to 115,000 copies. Note that its printed circulation, according to its Volume 30’s cover page is at 16 million copies.

At Number 4, you will find Mashle Volume 8. Copies sold were promising for its 7th volume which had 77,476 copies sold in its first 5 days, closer to Volume 5’s performance which its 4-day sales were at 74,222 copies sold. Volume 4 had a full 7-day of sales on the chart, but engine was just warming up to see 54,144 copies sold. We can expect copies sold to hit somewhere around 90,000 copies for its 8th volume given its full 7-day of sales. On its cover, the series is noted to have achieved 2.5 million copies in circulation.

A spot below, is a rather retro series, or very retro if I may say. Five Star Stories is a work by Mamoru Nagano which first began serialization on April 20, 1986. Since it places both on TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN charts, we can expect it to do well. Number 6, is a title that has been building traction in its local market. Dandadan impresses with the release of its 1st volume back in August 2021 with 57,761 copies sold in its first 5 days. With a full 7-day of sales, we are most likely to see a bigger turnout for the series’ 2nd volume. Then, Ao no Hako Volume 2 is 8th. Having 350,000 copies in circulation as of Volume 2, we can be optimistic on its performance. Volume 1 has yet to make a dent on Oricon’s Top 30, but this may prove to be its maiden entrance onto the chart.
Number 10 on TSUTAYA’s list places a struggling title. Copies sold have been plummeting consistently since the highs of Volume 11, which on its first week of release sold 226,474 copies sold, averaging at 32,353 copies sold a day. Volumes 18 presented its worst sales at the time of its release, having 7 days of sales, and yet could only push out 116,798 copies, 48.43% down from Volume 11. Copies sold have then not been able to produce copies sold close to 20,000 copies a day with Volume 24 having only 50,253 copies sold in its first 3 days, 16,751 copies on average. Volume 25 is expected to retain similar numbers and will most likely see around 95,000 copies sold.

Moving onto COMIC ZIN’s chart and you will find Dandadan Volume 2 sitting at the top. It is followed by Chainsaw Man‘s author Tatsuki Fujimoto collection of works, 17 to 21. The author’s latest work Look Back was featured back in September, having sold 73,912 copies in its first 3 days.
Shuumatsu no Harem Volume 13, a popular work by LINK and Kotaro Shono can be found at Number 4 for the week. The title last made its appearance in August 2020 with Volume 12 selling 56,030 copies at the time while Volume 11 debuted slightly way back in May 2020 at 61,033 copies sold. With Volume 13 having a full 7-day of sales, we can expect a turnout near to 60,000 copies sold.
2.5-jigen no Yuuwaku places 6th. The title has so far not made any appearance Oricon Top 30 chart in 2020 and 2021, however it has been noted on its cover that the series has officially reached 1 million copies in printed circulation. The serialization began in 2019 for the title and is available through Shounen Jump+. Its 1st chapter is available for free right here in Japanese, so do check it out!
Head over to Number 7 is Taishou Wotome Otogibanashi: Pessimist no Shokutaku Volume 1, a fairly new title by author Sana Kirioka. Serialization is taking place via Shounen Jump+ which its Chapter 1 is viewable here for free in Japanese. This might be a title that you would want to check out considering that its Anime is currently being broadcasted with studio SynergySP (Cross Game, Hayate no Gotoku!, Zettai Karen Children) producing the series.

LINK’s other work is featured at Number 8 with Shuumatsu no Harem: Fantasia Volume 8. Like 2.5-jigen no Yuuwaku, the title too has achieved its 1 million printed circulation. Right below it is Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan Volume 7 by Toshinori Sogabe. The author has worked on a number of titles including one that you may be familiar with: Amaenaide yo!!, which was adapted into Anime way back in 2005, and a follow up season the year after.
COMIC ZIN features three releases sharing the 10th spot. The first is Sousuke Miyashiro’s Honey Trap! Shoukan Yuusha wo Hameru Honey Trap Houimou Volume 1. You can check out the preview of its 1st chapter right here via Comic Walker in Japanese. Serializing since August 2003, is Raika Days, a work by Munko which Volume 30 is 10th for the week. Finally, Ride-On King Volume 7 by Yasushi Baba is also on the list. It last made its appearance on Oricon Top 30 chart in October 2019.
