Looking at the titles released for the week between May 31 to June 6, I have got to say, it must be a very intense week with many big names making onto the list. TSUTAYA’s chart is led by Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Volume 16, which is undeniably been doing great ever since the broadcast of its Anime. Sales have exploded since the release of Volume 13 jumping nearly fivefold for its 14th volume. Sales picked up yet again debut-to-debut between Volume 14 and Volume 15 seeing numbers up by almost twofold as Volume 15 opened its first week with 1,138,798 copies. Based on its trajectory, expect it to see yet another climb.

It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Natalie.mu that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them some love! Plus, all the data you find below can be accessed via Natalie.mu right here. Don’t forget to visit sites TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN by clicking on their names below as this would not have been made possible if not for them!
One Piece‘s Volume 99 which trails Jujutsu Kaisen‘s Volume 16 at number 2 has seen debut sales recovering after a disappointing turnout for its 95th volume. Sales have settled for around 1.2 million copies the past two volumes. However, it has not been able to reach the highs of Volume 93, which debuted at 1,378,177 copies in its first week, the highest thus far among its latest six volumes. With the stiff competition it is facing, it is quite hard to say if it is able to sell around the same, so do expect a small drop in sales.

Coming in hot at number 3 is Spy x Family‘s Volume 7. Like Jujutsu Kaisen, the title has been seeing a steady growth in its debut sales. Sales have climbed dramatically from Volume 3 to Volume 4, and another record growth was achieved between Volume 5 to Volume 6. However, this may be a point where sales have matured for the title, and with no Anime adaptation announced yet, we may see more or less the same amount of copies sold.

Kaijuu 8-gou‘s Volume 3 places 4th for the week and is another title that has been doing well as of recent. Debut sales for Volume 2 hit 301,425 copies in its first week, a sharp rise over its Volume 1’s 90,831 copies. There is still room to grow as long as its competitors do not eat much of its sales.
Both Dr. Stone‘s Volume 21 and Owari no Seraph‘s Volume 24 are two other new releases making onto the chart for the week with the latter having a rough time with its recent outing. Volume 22 of Owari no Seraph saw its worst performance among its latest five volumes after generating welcoming sales for Volume 19 and Volume 20. Sales have recovered for Volume 23 after a modest climb from Volume 22’s 51,598 copies sold in its first week. Hopefully we can see it reaching 70,000 copies sold. Dr. Stone’s sales performance have been fluctuating considerably, but sales should be able to stay above 70,000 copies sold.

The Manga adaptation of Mushikaburi-hime is ranked 5 for the week while Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou desu‘s settles for 9th place. Note that Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou desu is having its Anime broadcasted this season and both of its 4th and 5th volumes did quite decent in 2020 selling 53,364 copies and 52,585 copies in their first weeks. Do expect it to receive a little boost from its Anime.

The appearances of Kaijuu 8-gou Volume 3 (surprisingly the release of Volume 3 seems to have rallied sales of Volume 1 and Volume 2), Spy x Family Volume 7, and Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 16 should consolidate the idea that these titles are set to have a blast this Friday on Oricon’s chart, however let us focus our attention on some other titles on COMIC ZIN’s list. Ume to Momo no Futsuu no Kurashi‘s Volume 2 which places 3rd for the week is a slice of life Manga by Kamiya Fujisawa who also did Neko no Kohana. Number 4 features Akuma no Memumemu-chan‘s Volume 12, the final volume for the series which actually received a short ONA adaptation by Shaft in 2018. For those of you interested, I have left the 5 minute video released by shonenjump_official down below:
At number 5 is Long Rider Stories! by the same Mangaka from the main series while Ultraman‘s Volume 17 and Shuumatsu no Harem: Fantasia‘s Volume 7 are both at number 9 and 10 respectively. The latter is a spin-off of Shuumatsu no Harem which is set to receive an Anime adaptation on unannounced date this year. Ultraman on the other hand was adapted into an Anime back in 2019. The second season for the series will ensue via Netflix on an unannounced date.
