TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN Weekly Tankoubon Sales Ranking via Natalie: May 3, 2021 to May 9, 2021

While not much has changed on TSUTAYA’s chart for the week between May 3 to May 9, it features three new titles with MF Ghost‘s Volume 11 leading at number 1. The title has had inconsistent debut sales for the past five volumes, but rest assure that it has stay close or more than 50,000 copies sold. Although sales of Volume 9 presented weaker sales than Volume 10, it stayed on Oricon’s chart for two weeks, with total sales amounting to 97,953 copies. Volume 10 performed rather well, yet fell short in its second week. The volume did not make onto Oricon’s chart the following week. For those who were fans of Initial D, its predecessor, this is definitely a series you shouldn’t be missing.

The title is also set to received an Anime adaptation on an unannounced date (source: ANN). You can also check out the official announcement trailer below which is also shared by Shikkakumon no Saikyou Kenja. The intense competition set by Kimetsu no Yaiba and Jujutsu Kaisen gave the series no room to breathe, as only Volume 7 to Volume 9 and Volume 11 were placed on Oricon’s Top 30 for the year 2020. Sales maintained at above 40,000 copies for Volume 7 to 9, whereas Volume 11 saw debut sales at 51,392 copies sold. Volume 10 never made onto Oricon’s Top 30. Expect it to sell around the same.

Tsutomu Nihei’s Ningyou no Kuni climbed a spot from number 2 to claim first place for the week. Unless sales weaken for heavy titles such as Tokyo Revengers and Jujutsu Kaisen, it will be hard to the title to get onto Oricon’s Top 30. At number 2 is the Manga adaptation of the Light Novel, Yoku Wakaranai keredo Isekai ni Tensei shiteita you desu. Though, you may want to check out Ride-On King that comes after. It recently made onto “Japanese Bookstores Recommend 15 Top Manga for 2020” chart (source: ANN) and may be a worthwhile read.

If you have watched or read Amaama to Inazuma, you may be interested to pick up Otonari ni Ginga, which is worked on by the same artist. Do check out the promotional video down below! Likewise, at number 7 is also another artist who had an Anime adaptation released quite some time ago. Yankee JK Kuzuhana-chan is a work by Toshinori Sogabe who did Amaenaide yo!! Number 10 is the final volume of Imamade Ichido mo Onnaatsukai sareta Koto ga Nai Onna Kishi wo Onnaatsukai suru Manga.
