TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN Weekly Tankoubon Sales Ranking via Natalie: May 24, 2021 to May 30, 2021

The past three volumes of Kusuriya no Hitorigoto have shown tremendous growth in their first two weeks with sales of Volume 7 surpassing 300,000 copies in Week 2. With the title gaining popularity in Japan, with sales of its Light Novels and its spin-off Manga, Kusuriya no Hitorigoto: Maomao no Koukyuu Nazotoki Techou doing well, do expect a good turnout for the week.

It is thanks to the wonderful folks over at Natalie.mu that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them some love! Plus, all the data you find below is accessible via Natalie.mu right here. And be sure to also check out site TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN by clicking on their names below as the charts would not have been made possible if not for them.

Go over to number 6, you will find the release of Ao Ashi’s latest volume. The Manga did perform better from Volume 18 to Volume 21 where sales peaked for Volume 18 as it hit 81,031 copies sold in its first week. Volume 22 saw number of copies sold dropped to 60,538 from the 73,552 copies sold by Volume 21 in its first week, though the number has climbed debut-to-debut between Volume 22 and Volume 23. Note that, the title does go on for at least two weeks on Oricon sales charts, with the exception of Volume 21 which was only ranked for a week. Do expect similar outcome for Volume 24, closer to sales of Volume 23 this coming Friday. Most importantly, the series is set to receive an Anime adaptation slated for a release in Spring 2022 (Source: ANN), which if all goes well, may boost the sales of its Manga.

The new volume for Youjo Senki ranks in at 9th place on TSUTAYA and its appearance on COMIC ZIN’s chart may also indicate a better performance this time around. The title has had a rough year in 2020 with Volume 17 selling 50,113 copies in its first week while Volume 18 was only charted on its second week selling 26,751 copies. The title received an Anime adaptation in 2017 spanning one season and a sequel theatrical release on February the 8th, 2019. The same year, the movie’s Blu-ray did rather well in its first week seeing copies sold stood at 12,814 copies.

As for COMIC ZIN, you may be familiar with titles such as Koisuru Asteroid as it received an Anime adaptation some time ago in 2017. Trailing behind the title is Ponkotsu Ponko which was serialized in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Spirits, and ended its serialization in the 25th issue of the magazine (Source: Natalie.mu). Volume 10 will be its last. So, you may consider picking it up for read. Zatsu Tabi: That’s Journey, at number 3 received a recommendation from Natalie.mu’s editor recently, therefore you may want to give it a try. A spot below is Eiga Daisuki Pompo-san which will receive a theatrical release this coming 4th of June and more information can be seen through its official website right here. I have also included the promotional video down below. Uchi no Kaisha no Chiisai Senpai no Hanashi at number 6 was ranked 11th in the “Tsugi ni Kuru Manga 2020” (Source: Natalie.mu) and Kyou mo Curry desu ka? at number 10 is worked on Shouko Azume who also did Suzuna no Koi.
