TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN Weekly Tankoubon Sales Ranking via Natalie: March 29, 2021 to April 4, 2021

A rather tight week with many popular releases and it is looking good so far for Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken, which is placed both on TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN’s chart for the week. It ranks first on TSUTAYA, however on COMIC ZIN’s, it is placed 4th. The Manga where the currently aired side story is adapted from is also on TSUTAYA’s chart, settling in at number 9. The title has had an outstanding record with two-week sales hitting a consistent 300,000 copies sold for the last five volumes. It will be quite interesting to see how the end of the Anime’s broadcast for the parent story affect sales for the week.

It is thanks to the amazing folks over at Natalie.mu that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them some love! Don’t forget to visit sites TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN as well by clicking on their names as these charts would not have been made possible if not for them!

Trailing behind Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken is another heavyweight title, Boku no Hero Academia. The title’s 29th volume saw debut sales ballooned to 429,673 copies with two-week sales reaching the highest among its last six volumes despite a significant drop on Week 2.

That said, a title we may want to pay more attention to would be Black Clover. Note that after four years of broadcast, the Anime has finally came to an end on March 30, 2021. Hopefully it will not stay as it is, and a sequel would ensue some time in the future. Debut sales for Volume 27 hit an all time high for the series, as many as 131,755 copies sold in its first week. Due to Week 2’s intensity (against Jujutsu Kaisen), the title could not rank in Oricon’s sales chart and were left out of the Top 30. Nevertheless, two-week sales for Volumes 22 to 26 have shown healthy sales. The title has been pushing numbers above 135,000 copies sold.

Other than that, we are seeing good indicators for Dr. Stone‘s Manga based on recent trend. While the title’s sales fluctuate a lot, sales have been encouraging. Its latest volume sold 106,996 copies in its first week, the highest among the previous eight volumes. Likewise, Dragon Ball Super too has been witnessing ups and downs with Volume 14 stumbling in its first week from Volume 13’s 112,997 copies. It should be able to see better sales for the week for its 15th volume.

It is quite an exciting week, given quite a few of the titles you find below just had their Anime season’s broadcasts ended. I can’t wait to see how it would impact sales this coming Oricon sales chart. So, do keep a lookout!

As for COMIC ZIN, we see the 12th volume of New Game! retaining its spot. It is quite surprising that the volume did not make onto Oricon’s Top 30 the week before. There is a good potential it will for this period. Kiniro Mosaic Best wishes., like New Game! is still placed 2nd on the chart. Go down to number 3, you will find Hagure Idol: Jigoku-hen and a bunch of new titles including Ponkotsu Ponko (No. 5) and 2.5-jigen no Yuuwaku (No. 6).

  1. Instead of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga gaining boost, the Fanbook won the boost lol

Unfortunately Sakamoto Days had inventory problems and will not appear in the rank

    1. Imagine my surprise when I saw the fanbook ranked! I wonder what happened to the rest, I don’t think it’s due to inventory issues. Most likely due to intense competition.

Sakamoto Days won’t appear… That is really too bad. What’s causing the inventory issue? The pandemic?

      1. It has been a while since Shonen Jump has had a stock problem with novice sleeves, I think this has been happening since Samurai 8 but I am not sure why.

      2. Since then?! Samurai 8 ended its serialization in 2020… then it’s quite a big surprise that Jujutsu Kaisen could push out such numbers.
