Top Sales According to Series for the Month of March 2023

In the monthly series chart for March 2023, Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon claimed the top spot. The release of the series’ live-action film boosted sales across the board, from Music to Books and Novels to Manga. While sales from Manga and Novels, particularly Novels, were strong throughout the period tracked, Music became the series’ largest contributor to sales for the month. Between March 13 and March 19, the single “Tapestry / W” sung by the group Snow Man, whose singer Ren Meguro also starred in the live-action film, sold 902,652 copies in just five days. The series closed the month on a high note, earning a total of 1,588.05 million yen (≈12.05 million USD).

Neon Genesis Evangelion secured the Number 2 spot, thanks to the release of “Evangelion: 3.0+1.11 Thrice Upon a Time.” Although not as successful as its previous films in terms of physical sales, the latest movie still sold a respectable 140,575 copies in its first five days. The 1,445.04 million yen (≈10.97 million USD) it earned throughout the period tracked included Music, but its sales were mainly concentrated on the Video segment.

Finally, One Piece claimed the third spot, earning a total of 1,067.13 million yen (≈8.10 million USD) in sales throughout the period. The series’ Manga was its largest contributor to sales, with Volume 105 selling 1,022,180 copies in its first three days between February 27 and March 5. The volume remained in the top 30 until April 2, with a total of 1,645,109 copies sold. Sales for the series took into account all segments, with Manga being the primary contributor.
