Top Sales According to Series for the Month of June 2023

The Daga, Jyounetsu wa Aru sits comfortably atop of Oricon’s monthly series sales chart at a great deal of 1,466.55 million yen (≈10.24 million USD) in sales made for the four-week period ending on June 25 from just sales of its Music segment alone. The live-action drama starring Takahashi Kaito and Morimoto Shintaro was broadcast from April 9 to June 25 featuring theme songs performed by two popular Japanese idol groups: Kokkara by SixTONES and Nanimono by King & Prince. In fact, the release of Kokkara single in the first five days between June 12 and June 18 helped the series take the 2nd spot on Oricon’s series sales chart at 689.94 million yen (≈4.82 million USD). Although Nanimono was released the week after on June 21 with a reported sales of more than 500,000 copies sold, it failed to nudge the series onto the Top 3 list between June 19 and June 25.

The 2nd place belongs to One Piece which One Piece Film: Red‘s disc releases have caused a surge in sales throughout the four-week period. Between June 12 and June 18, the series sold 91,457 copies in total within the first five days, marking the series’ best performance yet after subpar performances of its Gold and Stampede films. While Red is still far behind in terms of debut sales against Strong World and Z, this increase in performance is very welcoming. As such, the series managed to note 975.42 million yen (≈6.81 million USD) in sales with Video being its biggest contributor and minor contributions from its Music, Books, Novels and Manga segments.

Finally, “Oshi no Ko” moved down a spot to Number 3, but sales did not quite reciprocate having increased by 26.79% to 668.79 million yen (≈4.67 million USD). As noted the month before, sales were quite slow the first two weeks of May before a significant rise was noted for May 15 to May 21 and May 22 to May 28. The week after that was quite steady before a slowdown from June 5 to June 18. Then, slightly prior to the Anime’s end of broadcast, the series experienced a significant climb of 66.04% to 213.39 million yen (≈1.49 million USD). All in all, for the months of May and June alone, the series has generated 1,196.28 million yen (≈8.35 million USD) in sales from its Music and Manga segments alone with more emphasis on the latter. The Anime’s 1st volume was released the week between June 26 and July 2 which may allow the title to return for July’s chart, though it needs to ensure that its other segments remain competitive in order to do so.
