silent tops Oricon’s monthly series sales chart for the month of August 2023 taking account only sales made between August 21 and August 27 which saw the live-action drama series starring Haruna Kawaguchi and Ren Meguro’s box sets achieving a great 37,058 copies sold in total within their first three days. As such, total sales ended the month on a strong note of 1,092.24 million yen (≈7.38 million USD). The Video segment contributed to the most amount of sales for the month while Music, Books and Novels were considered though not as much as its Video.

At Number 2 is “Oshi no Ko” with its 5th consecutive appearance on Oricon’s Top 3 monthly series sales chart (since April 2023). The adaptation of the work into a TV Anime series has been very positive for the series as sales began to pick up immediately after the season began to air (look at April 2023) of which they continued to rise and peaked in July 2023 at 1,090.08 million yen (≈7.36 million USD) when Volume 12 was released. That said, the 454.05 million yen (≈3.07 million USD) the series hit for the month of August is sightly on the low side and should have had a larger turnout and this is due to its discs’ 3rd volume sales not being captured by Oricon as it it fell out of the period tracked—Volume 3 of “Oshi no Ko” was released on August 30, 2023. If the period tracked for September ends on October 1, which it very likely will, the month of September will see both Volume 3 and Volume 4 counted for the series which may result in a higher or nearly equal sales given that sales of its Manga were to contract at a much slower pace. With all that said, the series has sold a total of 3,208.41 million yen (≈21.67 million USD) worth of products tracked by Oricon from April 2023 to August 2023.
Please note that “Oshi no Ko” takes into account all segments tracked by Oricon with the most emphasis on its Manga segment.
Finally, we have Kanojo-tachi no Hanzai at Number 3 with 365.67 million yen (≈2.47 million USD) in sales for the month. The series was the best performer between July 31 and August 6, 2023 thanks to the single, Summer Riot: Nettaiya / Everest, performed by The Rampage from Exile Tribe which sold 228,245 copies in its first five days. The series’ Music department is the sole contributor to its sales for the month.
