Well here we are! Took awhile for me to finally have this published. I swear to GOD I was not fooling around like playing video games… or something. Ahem. All the information you find below is accessible by the two awesome sites available right here (ICv2) and here (Publishers Weekly), so be sure to check them out! If you desire to get more data from the two sites, you can do so here (ICv2) and here (Publishers Weekly). Note that the blog is not sponsored by any of the two.
The month of August is rather tight with many popular new volumes released, led by the latest volume of Jujutsu Kaisen at Number 1. Interestingly, despite being the final volume, Kimetsu no Yaiba Volume 23 was ranked a spot lower than Jujutsu Kaisen, followed by Tatsuki Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man Volume 6 at Number 3.
Several other new releases include, Junji Ito’s Sensor at Number 5, Jojo’s Part 5 Golden Wind Volume 1 places 6th for the month. Haikyu! Volume 45, like Kimetsu no Yaiba could not see itself rank higher, the same could be said for The Promised Neverland Volume 20. Both are final volumes, and they were new releases for the month. Go further down on ICv2’s list and you will find Komi Can’t Communicate Volume 14 at Number 16. Note that the title’s Anime adaptation is set to commence soon in October. If you have missed it out, do check out the latest trailer down below!

Diving deeper into unit sales, though I must point out that something is certainly amiss with the duration noted by Publishers Weekly for their chart. I firmly believe that this could be a typo as the titles on their list fit ICv2’s list. Nevertheless, I decided to maintain the period of between August 1 to August 21 as they are.
The 11th volume of Jujutsu Kaisen opened its first month with 50,145 copies sold, a 31.69% jump over Volume 10’s 34,252 copies in its debut month. This would be Jujutsu Kaisen‘s second consecutive rise after another climb between Volume 9 and Volume 10.
Alternative View: Here
Coming in close at Number 2 is Kimetsu no Yaiba Volume 23 with 44,529 copies sold. It recorded similar improvement to that of Jujutu Kaisen debut-to-debut by about 32% from Volume 22’s 30,280 copies sold in its release month. At Number 3 is Chainsaw Man‘s Volume 6 at 36,453 copies sold. Note that this is slightly down from Volume 5’s 37,846 copies by 3.68%. It is unknown why the drop happen, whether it is due to it being released in the same month where too many popular titles are released or if is related to the stock issues that publishers are facing.
Alternative View: Here
The rest of the new releases saw sales below 20,000 units sold as both Haikyu! Volume 45 and The Promised Neverland recorded decent sales of 15,379 copies and 12,601 copies sold respectively. Junji Ito’s Sensor and Jojo’s Part 5 Golden Wind Volume 1 on the other hand, settle for 5th and 6th places at 19,765 copies and 16,151 copies sold each.
