Toho’s Latest FY2022 Quarterly Report: Belle is Still 1st, Boku no Hero Academia World Heroes’ Mission is 2nd for Box Office Revenue

Mamoru Hosoda’s latest film, Ryuu to Sobakasu no Hime or most commonly known as just “Belle” is still Toho’s biggest earner amongst its newest titles for the year 2021, sitting atop as its cumulative box office revenue hit 6.3 billion yen (~55.3 million USD) as of the end of September 2021. Boku no Hero Academia World Heroes’ Mission is 2nd at 3.21 billion yen (~28.2 million USD) while Crayon Shin-chan‘s 29th film is 4th (followed after Godzilla vs Kong) at 1.7 billion yen (~14.9 million USD).

World Heroes’ Mission is Boku no Hero Academia‘s best performer so far accumulating the biggest box office revenue compared to its previous two films. Futari no Hero which debuted back in August 2018 had a revenue of 1.72 billion yen (~15.1 million USD) while Heroes:Rising notched a slight higher than the first movie to see 1.79 billion yen (~15.7 million USD). World Heroes’ Mission went on to almost double the amount made from the two previous films.

The company also reported strong disc sales for Jujutsu Kaisen and Uma Musume: Pretty Derby (TV) Season 2 between March 1 to August 31, 2021, however did not divulge on the number of copies sold made for the two titles. Merchandising rights from Jujutsu Kaisen and Boku no Hero Academia have also increased significantly within the period. Other sales derived from its TOHO animation STORE were also noted to be strong. As such, it has seen tremendous growth in sales and profits for its entire Video Business.
