The 6th Tsutaya Comic Awards

On June 21, at the awards ceremony held at the CCC (Culture Convenience Club Company, Limited), the winners of the 6th edition of the Tsutaya Comic Awards were announced. The awards sponsored by “Tsutaya” started in 2016, with the first prize held in 2017, and the aim is to choose the “Next Breakthrough” titles via votes submitted by readers on the comicspace review site and its Twitter account. There are two conditions to qualify, and that the Manga is still ongoing and it must have a maximum of five volumes released. As such, Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru will not qualify for next year’s edition since it will have its 6th volume released by then.

This year’s first place is awarded to the Manga by Mashiro, Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru. The Manga has been conquering a large audience since its launch, for instance, in the last Anime Japan event that was held this year it was in the 9th place in the “Manga We Want to See Animated” ranking and recently with the release of its 5th volume we got news that the Manga has reached the mark of 1 million copies in circulation (Source: Natalie). Coming in 2nd, Saka Mikami’s Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku makes its entrance, a Manga that has been gaining traction domestically. Reportedly, after its release, it needed immediate reprint amid great demand after launch. At Number 3, we have Medalist by Ikada Tsuruma, a seinen Manga published by Kodansha that has appeared twice in “Nationwide Bookstore Employees’ Recommended Comics” for the years 2021 and 2022.

The following is the full list of the 10 award winners:
