Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: October 11, 2021 to October 17, 2021

Sales for Video Game consoles open on a good note for the week between October 11 to October 17 with nearly all indicators being green. Both Xbox Series consoles record stronger week-to-week performance, up by 16.88% and 17.82% for Series X and Series S respectively. The vanilla PlayStation 5 witnesses similar improvement, though the Digital Edition reports a much narrower increase from the week before. Switch Lite climbs 9.72% while its other half sees minor drop in unit sales. The OLED version succumbs to a major setback of 76.52% from previous week’s debut to 32,494 units. At the same time both PlayStation 4 and New 2DS LL fell 36.21% and 7.90% week-on-week.

Like the week before, we get to welcome a number of new titles making onto the Top 10 list for the week, led by Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Hinokami Chronicles‘s PlayStation 4 version at 94,849 copies sold. The PlayStation 5 edition can be found two spots below at Number 3 at 20,187 copies sold. Cumulatively, the console version of the game manages 115,036 copies in total in its first 4 days. Developed by CyberConnect2, the game is based on the popular work of Koyoharu Gotouge of the same name. As for the game itself, it is a third-person action fighting game which can be played either solo or with another player on a battlefield. Head over to Number 4 and you will find Bandai Namco’s THE iDOLM@STER: Starlit Season selling 15,597 copies for its PlayStation 4 edition. There are two more new titles making onto the Top 10 sitting side by side at Number 5 and Number 6. First is Turtle Rock Studios’ Back 4 Blood, a zombie first-person shooting game which also features co-operative gameplaye, plus a player versus player mode. The PlayStation 4 version of the game sells 13,112 copies for the week. The latter is a title developed by FuRyu and Lancarse at 10,521 copies sold for its Switch edition. The tactical RPG video game is set to receive a global release this coming February 2022. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
