Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: November 22, 2021 to November 28, 2021

Hardware sales saw smaller gains with the two Switch older models reporting 9.70% and 2.82% climb in sales week-on-week while the OLED model fell sharply by 76.78% from previous week’s 68,796 units. Total units sold for the Switch family for the week stood at 122,573 units. PlayStation 5 and its Digital Edition reversed losses it experienced the week before to hit 8,987 units in total, 52.08% higher than the prior week. However, its older counterpart, the PlayStation 4 vanilla is at its lowest since the start of the year, at only 84 units sold. Xbox Series plummeted to their weakest point since June 6 to see only 633 units sold. New 2DS LL on the other hand rose 23.48% to settle for 477 units sold.

The week between November 22 to November 28 features only one new release which comes in 3rd at 23,360 copies. Power Pro Kun Pocket R, a Nintendo exclusive game, which is a sub-series of the Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu baseball series, is the latest addition to the Power Pro Yakyuu line-up that initially began as a Gameboy title back in 1999. You can expect several new modes that come along with the new game such as the “Survival” mode that can be played with up to four people. You can check out more about the game via its trailer down below!

As for others, most past titles have recorded a climb week-on-week with Animal Crossing: New Horizons at 50.98% stronger than the week before. Copies sold are at a strong 22,746, pushing the title closer to the 7 million copies sold mark. Minecraft, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate made modest climbs, and Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Mario Party Superstars and Shin Megami Tensei V have all dropped. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl saw a harder fall of 74.56%, however copies sold are still very healthy. If it maintains somewhere between 100,000 to 250,000 copies in the coming few weeks, it should breach the 2 million sold mark.
