Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: March 30, 2020 ~ April 5, 2020

Sales of Animal Crossing: New Horizons finally crossed the 3 million mark according to the latest sales chart accessible via Famitsu here. It is thanks to them that we are able to see the charts every week, so please pay them a visit here and bless them with your support!

Unfortunately Resident Evil 3, the latest remake of the 1999 edition of the game could not outsell Resident Evil 2 which debuted at 265,000 copies when it was released on the 25th of January, 2019. The week between March 30 and April 5 saw RE:3 selling 189,000 copies.

There have been not much of a change in the top 10 list, but sales of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 for both Switch and PS4 have plummeted considerably. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate however, saw an increase. The other new title making into the list other than RE:3 is Kotoba no Puzzle: Mojipittan Encore at number 12.

For sales of hardware, Switch Lite saw their sales halved for the week where for the week between March 23 – March 29, it sold 230,671 units, sales declined by 56.61% to 100,084 units. Sales of PS4 units saw almost a 50% increase while Xbox One S dropped the biggest. You can find the sales of hardware summarized below:

6. Xbox One X / 23 (↓90.25%) units (total sold: 19,599 units)

On the other hand, 2DS and 3DS are as follows:

  • New 2DS LL / 1,172 units (↑23.63%) (total sold: 1,705,377 units)
  • New 3DS LL / 58 (↑22.41%) units (total sold: 5,886,893 units)
