Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: June 8, 2020 ~ June 14, 2020

Sales of Video Games in Japan for the week between June 8 to June 14 slumped across the board with the exception of Pokémon Sword and Shield which has been on a steady rise this couple of weeks. The positive growth could be brought about by the release of the new expansion passes released a couple of days ago for the title, spurring the increased number of sales in anticipation for their releases.

The Top 3 remained unchanged thus far for the week, but as predicted Ring Fit Adventure finally hit the 1 million mark. It may take at least two more weeks for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to breach the 3 million mark as long as its number of copies sold per week remains at around 10,000.

On the hardware side of things, sales seemed to have slowed down for all machines with only Xbox One X and New 3DS LL seeing positive growth. Sales of PS4 units fell the biggest of all after witnessing an increase of nearly 80% the week before. For the week between June 8 to June 14, the number has dropped quite significantly for the machine. It stumbled 75% from 15,000 units it sold the previous week to 3,900 units.

3. PS4 / 3,902 units (↓75.15%) (total sold: 7,612,259 units)
4. PS4 Pro / 5,381 units (↓3.74%) (total sold: 1,551,151 units)
5. Xbox One S / 14 units (↓6.67%) (total sold: 93,329 units)
6. Xbox One X / 90 units (↑75.56%) (total sold: 20,530 units)

On the other hand, 2DS and 3DS are as follows:

  • New 2DS LL / 920 units (↓18.00%) (total sold: 1,719,354 units)
  • New 3DS LL / 84 units (↑30.95%) (total sold: 5,887,760 units)
