Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: June 6, 2022 to June 12, 2022

Hardware sales for the week between June 6 and June 12 are mostly down after great gains made across the board the week before. Switch consoles experienced a minor drop of 4.39% as the OLED model took a hard fall, recording 54.57% less sales than the prior week. In total, all three consoles are at 58,436 units. PlayStation 5 is less than half of what it was from last week with a 56.48% decrease in sales reported to 12,440 units. The Xbox Series on the other hand, had a nearly 50% drop from previous week’s 11,573 units to 6,242 units. A strong gain is observed for the PlayStation 4 vanilla model as units sold climbed by 73.08% to 78 whereas New 2DS LL is at 207 units sold for the week, tumbling 19.46% week-on-week.

Kimetsu no Yaiba: The Hinokami Chronicles is the best-selling title for the week at 90,885 copies sold in its first 4 days, a rerelease of the October 2021 version for the Switch consoles. Back then, the title sold a total of 115,036 units in its first 4 days for its PlayStation editions and note that it is also available on other platforms such as Xbox Series and Steam. In the game, you can fight battles in an arena style map, playable with up to two players. However, a solo mode is also available where you play as Tanjiro. Mario Strikers: Battle League takes the 2nd spot with 32,173 copies sold in its first 3 days, the third installment of the Mario Strikers series and the first game for the series that has been released after over a decade (Source: Wikia). The title is a football (soccer) themed game that is set in a gated arena where you play as a team of five against the other. You control different characters that possess various skills to outwit your opponents, including an ultimate skill it calls a hyper strike.
