Overall hardware sales were mixed throughout the week with Switch maintaining its position as the Number 1 console in Japan, up by 0.21% week-over-week to close at 106,241 units, thereby taking a larger chunk of the market share at 67.0% as opposed to previous week’s 52.3%.
Both the PlayStation 5 versions have moved down significantly to end up with 42.27% fewer units than the prior week with a total of 49,294 units sold after a potential boost the brand received from Final Fantasy XVI last week. The market share, as a result, has shrunken to 31.1% from 42.2% the week before.
The Xbox Series was the biggest loser for the week as units sold plummeted by 88.87% from 8,727 units to 971 units. PlayStation 4 on the other hand, suffered from a setback of 13.76% to 2,093 units whereas New 2DS LL moved up 21.21% to 40 units.
