Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: July 24 – July 30, 2023

Hardware sales has shown mixed results with more leaning towards an increase in sales week-over-week. Switch continues to lead the charge with a slight improvement in units sold by 10.04% to record 78,326 units sold in total for the week, bringing its total lifetime sales to beyond the 30 million mark. PlayStation 5 notched 14.28% higher to 53,211 units sold as both editions recorded a climb. With that said, its total lifetime sales have now passed 4 million in Japan. The Xbox Series experienced a sharp rise in sales by 59.41% to see a total of 1,846 units sold for the week whereas both PlayStation 4 and New 2DS LL have tumbled by about 80% and 18% respectively against previous week’s performance.

There are three new releases on the Top 10 sales chart for the week. Individually speaking, Natsumon! 20-seiki no Natsuyasumi leads the new releases at Number 2 with 18,267 copies sold in its first three days. The game follows a young boy spending his summer vacations in the countryside in Japan. For more about the game, do check out its promotional video below.

Then, at Number 6, 10 and 20 for the week are the Switch, PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 editions of CRYMACHINA with 7,417 copies, 5,228 copies and 2,611 copies sold respectively. In total, that would be 15,256 copies within the first four days and the title is expected to record further sales from its PlayStation 4 edition. Developed by FuRyu, CRYMACHINA is an action RPG game that revolves around mechanical girls as they fight to survive in a post-apocalyptic world. Finally, we have Disney Illusion Island at Number 7 with 7,172 copies sold in its first three days. The game follows Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy as they begin a new adventure in search of magical books and thus save the mysterious island of Monoth.
