Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: January 9 – January 15, 2023

After several weeks of holiday boost, both hardware and software sales for the week have calmed down significantly. Switch maintains its position as Japan’s bestseller with a total of 74,690 units sold throughout the week, taking up 61.7% of the total market share while PlayStation 5 performed rather well, selling 44,113 units and making up 36.4% of the week’s share. Xbox Series console sales were not as encouraging. The 1,052 units sold it had for the week sat behind PlayStation 4’s 1,099 units whereas New 2DS LL was at 93 units.

All of the older releases on the Top 10 have witnessed a fall in sales week-on-week, however, the list welcomed one new release being One Piece Odyssey sitting side by side at Number 2 and Number 3 with a total of 62,002 copies sold in its first 4 days. The brand-new RPG features sees you venture throughout a mysterious island as Luffy in search of his missing crew after being separated amid a shipwreck caused by a huge storm at sea.
