Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: January 30 – February 5, 2023

The hardware sales chart in Japan saw yet again another strong showing from PlayStation 5 amid an increase in supply as units sold climbed 47.88% to close at 93,026 for the week with its market share further up to 56.6% from previous week’s 54.0%. This result has also nudged its total lifetime sales to above 2.7 million units as of the time of writing. Sales for Switch consoles were not so bad too, moving up by 9.06% to 55,736 units with a market share of 33.9%. The Xbox Series recorded a major increase in total sales from the week before to secure 14,644 units from 1,265 units. PlayStation 4 and New 2DS LL consoles reported another fall in sales by 10.18% and 5.41% respectively.

As for the software sales chart Top 10, there are no new releases. Pokémon Scarlet and Violet regained its Number 1 spot albeit a drop in sales week over week, though its actual lifetime sales according to Nintendo’s latest financial report has reached 20.61 million copies worldwide. Nintendo’s report also revealed the statuses for other titles such as: Splatoon 3 at 10.13 million units and Nintendo Switch Sports at 8.61 million units (please refer to the report here, page 3).
