Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: February 24, 2020 ~ March 1, 2020

Looks like Pokemon has returned to claim their rightful spot in Japan’s Top 30 Video Game ranking for the week between February 24 and March 1 available here (please pay the awesome folks at Famitsu a visit!). The game is now in trajectory to hit 3.5 million copies sold in Japan in the following week if it keeps up this momentum (which I think it will). It displaces both Persona 5 Scramble editions (PS4 and Switch) which dominated the 1st and 2nd spots the week before. Sales of Persona 5 Scramble for both PS4 and Switch saw a sharp decline with the PS4 edition plunging 83.18% from the week before while the Switch edition stumbled 80.85% to number 8 for the week.

The only new title to have penetrated the top 10 list for the week is Mega Man Zero & ZX Double Hero Collection. The Switch version of the game debuted at a humble number 6 while the PS4 version missed a few hundred marks, settling in at number 11. Sales however, have pretty much improved across the board.

Fortunately, according to Famitsu, sales of hardware have shown a remarkable recovery. The information is accessible here. I have also summarized them down here for your perusal:

2. Switch Lite / 37,784 units (↑18.91%) ( (total sold: 1,424,065 units)
3. PS4 / 5,946 units (↑36.8%) ( (total sold: 7,416,245 units)
4. PS4 Pro / 3,637 (↑32.44%) units ( (total sold: 1,447,175 units)
5. Xbox One S / 35 (↑51.43%) (units (total sold: 92,881 units)
6. Xbox One X / 37 (↑32.43%) units (total sold: 18,999 units)

On the other hand, 2DS and 3DS are as follows:

  • New 2DS LL / 1,064 units (↑8%) (total sold: 1,699,929 units)
  • New 3DS LL / 67 (↑31.34%) units (total sold: 5,886,490 units)
