Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: December 6, 2021 to December 12, 2021

Units sold for hardware remain low for PlayStation 5 models as they stay below the 2,000 mark. Despite a small recovery for the Digital Edition, its performance worsens compared to the week before where it noted a cumulative 1,919 units sold whereas for the week between December 6 to December 12, it saw only 1,133 units sold, 40.96% down. Switch reported stronger sales for its Lite and OLED models the week before, but this time, its situation is reversed. The two mentioned models are 14.38% and 9.19% weaker week-on-week respectively whereas the vanilla edition jumps a small 9.60%. Xbox Series X reports a significant increase in sales of 76.89% to 450 units, at the same time its Series S retreats 21.81% to see 355 units sold. Both PlayStation 4 and New 2DS LL are down for the week.

There are no new releases that made it onto the Top 10 chart for the week, however most titles have reported a climb in units sales as Christmas approaches. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Yawaraka Atama Juku: Issho ni Atama no Stretch are the only two that have fallen. As for others, Animal Crossing: New Horizons has finally breached 7 million units sold in Japan while Momotaro Dentetsu: Showa, Heisei, Reiwa mo Teiban! reports the highest jump of 53.55% week-on-week to see 14,709 copies sold.
