Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: December 20, 2021 to January 2, 2022 (Two-week)

A pretty straightforward update this time around since Famitsu skipped the weekly release due to New Year, as such, there will be no percentage difference noted for the post. I will include them once the weekly charts are out, perhaps some time next week.

Hardware sales are still seeing strong performance for Switch consoles with recoveries can be seen for PlayStation 5 consoles. Two-week sales for Switch machines are at 393,980 units whereas PlayStation 5 are at 72,064 units. The Xbox Series could only push 2,159 units sold between December 20 and January 2, quite a low turnout despite the holiday season. However, not as abysmal as PlayStation 4 which is clearly about to phase out from the charts. Units sold are at an all time low of 68 units. Finally, at 670 units sold within the two-week period is New 2DS LL.

It is thanks to the wonderful folks over at Famitsu that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! Plus, all the data you find below is accessible via Famitsu right here.

As for hardware, both Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl and Mario Party Superstars still maintain their spots with the latter title breaching the 700,000 units sold mark. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe follows tightly behind at Number 3 selling a handsome 104,540 copies in two weeks. Yawaraka Atama Juku: Issho ni Atama no Stretch which places 4th is about to hit 200,000 copies, which is certainly doable once the chart is out next week. At Number 9, the 46,111 copies sold for Ring Fit Adventure has helped its lifetime sales to pass 3 million copies. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
