Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: December 19 – December 25, 2022

Sales of Switch consoles settled down for a bit over last week’s by 5.50% as Switch vanilla and OLED dragged the numbers down to 163,556 units from 173,083 units. Likewise, PlayStation 5 consoles’ total units sold were also not as good as the prior week’s as it contracted by a small 2.38% to 68,819 units from 70,496 units. The Xbox Series gained 21.87% in sales to 1,109 units as it nearly approaches the 400,000 units sold mark in Japan, doable the following week. PlayStation 4 remained unchanged at 3,161 units while New 2DS LL experienced a significant climb of about 400% from 48 units sold the week before to 238 units.

There were no new releases that made into the chart for the week, but many older titles have made impressive gains amid Christmas. The 44.05% increase for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet allowed the game to move past the 4 million mark in Japan while the Final Fantasy seriesCrisis Core: Final Fantasy VII Reunion were jettisoned out of the list as sales slowed down.
