Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: April 27, 2020 ~ May 3, 2020

Sales of video games were strong for the week between April 27 to May 3 according to the latest chart available via Famitsu here. Besides, it is thanks to the awesome folks at Famitsu that we get see these charts on a weekly basis, so why not head over to their site here and show them some love!

Famitsu has noted that the strong sales are attributable to Golden Week – a long holiday period which lands at the end of April till early May – and due to the state of emergency issued by Japan, causing many people to refrain from going outside. This has led to growth in sales, in particular Switch titles with Ring Fit Adventure rising the biggest. Animal Crossing is still going steady at number one, but sales have fell a little at around 8%. Most Mario titles too have seen an incline in sales.

Regrettably, things are not looking so good for PS4 titles in the top 10 as both Final Fantasy VII Remake and Trials of Mana showed a decline. Of the two, Trials of Mana fell the hardest.

I will not be including sales of hardware in this post as Famitsu has compiled two weeks  of data in their post. Thus, I will be creating a separate post for that. If you missed it, do find them in the Video Game Sales Ranking tab. As usual, you can find the full list as below:
