Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: April 11, 2022 to April 17, 2022

Units sold for Video Game consoles are mostly up the week between April 11 and April 17 with the Xbox Series X recording the highest jump at 95.01% week-on-week to 3,027 units from 151 units. Series S however slid 30.69% to close at 2,715 units for the week, putting the total sales for both consoles at 5,742 units. PlayStation 5 witnesses a similar turnout. It is down for the Vanilla edition while Digital Edition saw an increase of 46.90%. This however still puts its total units sold growth from the prior week at a small 0.31% to 11,259 units. Switch consoles have recorded positive performances for the Vanilla and Lite editions, but OLED sold 21.75% less than the week before. As such, the total units sold for the console including all its editions stay in the 60,000 range. PlayStation 4 vanilla sold a unit more than last week to 15 units while New 2DS LL noted a 13.39% increase in units sold to 224 units.

As for Video Game software, the 2019 re-release of 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim for the Switch console is 2nd on the list at 27,199 copies sold in the first 4 days, 21.41% less than the PlayStation 4 release back in 2019. The Switch release has also been released globally, and for more information about the version, you can check out the trailer below.

Then, Winning Post 9 sees its Switch edition edging out the PlayStation 4 edition at Number 4 with copies sold at 12,704 in the first 4 days while the PlayStation 4 version is 6th at 9,421 copies. This would put its total copies sold at 22,125 copies, 1.83% lower than the 22,537 copies it sold for the 2021 edition back between April 12 and April 18. Squeezed in between the two Winning Post 9 2022 versions is the last new title on the Top 10 for the week. Battle Spirits Connected Battlers makes its debut at 10,764 copies sold in the first 4 days. Initially teased by FuRyu on April 23rd last year, the game was first announced to be released at a much earlier date (January 22, 2022). However, that was pushed back due to quality issues, and it was finally released on April 14. The card video game will feature cards from the Rebirth era, and according FuRyu, more cards from the older era will be included after the release.
