Japan Top Weekly Video Game Ranking: April 10 – April 16, 2023

During the week of April 10 and April 16, sales of the Switch saw a slowdown, dropping by 7.08% week-over-week to a total of 48,794 units compared to the previous week’s 52,510 units. In contrast, while the vanilla edition of the PlayStation 5 experienced a small drag of 0.09% from last week’s 39,836 units, the overall sales of the PlayStation 5 (including its Digital Edition) increased by 1.81% to reach 47,040 units. Together, the two consoles made up 50.0% (for Switch) and 48.2% (for PlayStation 5) of the market share for the week. The Xbox Series saw a significant drop of 67.72% from last week’s 917 units to only 296 units sold, putting it behind the PlayStation 4 which sold 1,356 units, an 11.97% increase week-over-week. Meanwhile, the New 2DS LL reported a gain of 78.13%, selling 114 units compared to 64 units the previous week.

Two new releases have breached the top 10 list. The Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection debuted at the top of the list for the Switch edition, selling 52,375 copies in its first three days. The PlayStation 4 edition followed with 7,871 copies sold. In total, the game sold 60,246 physical copies in Japan during its launch week. The Nintendo page for the collection indicates that it includes both Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection Volume 1 and 2, featuring Mega Man Battle Network 1 through 6.
