Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: October 2 – October 8, 2023 (Updated)

Spy x Family‘s 12th volume has noted an 81.95% increase in sales against Volume 4’s 315,556 copies, both in their first five days with the latter making its debut prior to the series’ Anime adaptation. While Volume 12’s performance is nearly identical to Volume 11’s 661,349 copies sold in six days, it is still quite far from Volume 10’s 773,785 copies sold recorded in its first six days back in October 4, 2022.

Wit Studio and CloverWorks adapted the first half of the Manga into a 12-episode TV Anime series in April this year, and the second part of the Anime is aired from October 1 to December 24, 2022. The series’ second season has just begun airing with its first episode released on October 7, 2023, and a film is set for release on December 22, 2023, both produced by the same studios.

Kusuriya no Hitorigoto Volume 12 has reached 214,130 copies sold in its first 10 days.

There are no direct comparisons to Ao no Hako Volume 12‘s 64,807 copies sold in five days, however, the latest volume has certainly done better than the 68,308 copies sold experienced by Volume 10 in its first six days. That said, when compared to even older volumes, Volume 12 is still not as good as the 73,171 copies and 73,077 copies sold for Volume 3 and Volume 7 in their first six days in January and October 2022.

The volume is titled “Hanashitai Koto ga Aru kara” or “I Need to Tell You Something”.

It’s looking quite rough for Grand Blue‘s physical sales in Japan with Volume 21 reporting a drop against previous volumes with four days of sales—the latest volume is down by 40.48%, 34.64% and 11.22% against Volume 12, Volume 17 and Volume 20 respectively. When compared to more recent volumes with shorter days of sales, the three-day sales of Volume 13 to Volume 16 did much better with Volume 13 selling 82,730 copies whilst Volume 16 sold 78,875 copies. This indicates that the series is going through a decline in physical sales.

In 2018, the title was adapted into a 12-episode TV Anime series by Zero-G and a live-action film was released in 2020 starring Ryo Ryusei and Yuki Yoda.

The Regular Edition of Berserk Volume 42 has sold 141,465 copies in its first 10 days.

Isekai Izakaya “Nobu” Volume 17 remains nearly flat against Volume 16, also in its first five days with the latest volume selling 0.43% less copies. Against Volume 9’s five-day sales, Volume 17 has experienced a sharper decline of 34.78%. Nevertheless, the performance of its latest volume is still stronger than the 45,918 copies and 42,974 copies sold for Volume 13 and Volume 15 in their first seven days.

The series was also adapted into a 24-episode Anime series by studio Sunrise in April of 2018.

MF Ghost Volume 18 has made its debut selling 22.11% fewer copies against the four-day sales of Volume 11 even though the latest volume was released a couple of days after the first episode of its Anime adaptation. That said, there is still a possibility that copies sold would see a stronger gain in the next seven days, and if that does not happen, Volume 19 will decide if there is any movement to the overall sales as a result of the Anime.

The series’ TV Anime series adaptation by Felix Film just started its broadcast this season as of the time of writing with the first episode on October 2, 2023.

Ao Ashi Volume 33 has achieved 140,087 copies sold in its first 11 days.

The volume is titled “Tsuyosugiru Omoi” or “When Feelings Get Too Strong”.

Death March kara Hajimaru Isekai Kyousoukyoku Volume 16 has experienced a decline of 30.37% in copies sold against Volume 12 (also in three days). The turnout for the latest volume is almost the same as Volume 15 (in four days) and is indicative of a stronger outcome than Volume 14’s 41,052 copies sold in its first six days.

In January 2018, SILVER LINK. and studio Connect adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series.

The volume is titled “Waratte Wednesday​” or “Wacky Wednesday”.

The Manga did not chart on Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart for Volume 8, but it appeared for Volume 7, Volume 9 and Volume 10 at 28,983 copies in four days, 34,261 copies in five days and 37,304 copies in six days, respectively. Volume 13 sales of 31,774 copies is 7.26% lower than Volume 9.

There are no direct comparisons as to Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko‘s 11th volume performance, though the latest volume is likely to sell less than its past volume (from Volume 7) had it chart a couple of days longer here amid low average sales per day.

In October 2020, Maho Film adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series. The sequel to the series is currently airing this season, as of the time of writing, and is also being produced by the same studio.

Kinnikuman Volume 83 has sold 57,113 copies in its first 10 days.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 23 has reached 1,370,195 copies sold within its first 90 days.

The Regular Edition of Uchuu Kyoudai Volume 43 has sold 154,540 copies in its first 17 days.

Yakumotatsu Arata was last seen with its 6th volume at 26,383 copies sold in its first six days. The series failed to chart on any of the lists the Blog tracks with its 7th volume.

Mato Seihei no Slave was last seen way back with Volume 10 at 21,882 copies in its first seven days. The series unfortunately failed to chart on any of the lists the Blog tracks for Volume 11 and Volume 12, but it made a return with Volume 13 on COMIC ZIN’s list between May 29 and June 4, 2023.
