Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: May 29 – June 4, 2023

The three-day sales for Boku no Hero Academia Volume 38 present the series’ second worst outcome since Volume 24, being 11.34%, 1.66%, 8.09%, 28.54%, and 19.14% down from Volume 27, Volume 28, Volume 29, Volume 33, and Volume 37, respectively. However, the latest performance is still 11.30% higher than what the series achieved with Volume 24.

Studio Bones adapted Boku no Hero Academia‘s 6^th TV Anime season which aired from October 1, 2022 to March 25, 2023, which lasted 25 episodes. The 7^th season is currently in the works with most information about the upcoming sequel is still not known as of the time of writing.

When compared to its previous two volumes, the three-day sales for World Trigger Volume 26 are 9.87% and 11.66% lower than Volume 24 and Volume 25, respectively. If the latest volume had been charted for one more day, it would have also struggled to surpass the sales of Volume 22 and Volume 23.

Toei Animation adapted World Trigger into a 73-episode TV Anime series in October 2014, and two follow up seasons were broadcast in 2021.

Ao Ashi Volume 32 shows a 7.09% and 16.43% decrease compared to Volume 29 and Volume 31, respectively, during their first six days of sales. However, its latest performance is still significantly stronger than the volumes preceding Volume 29. For example, it surpasses the sales of Volume 27 and Volume 28, which sold 105,060 copies and 108,690 copies within their first seven days.

Ao Ashi was adapted into a 24-episode TV Anime series by Production I.G, which aired from April to September 2022.

This is One Punch-Man‘s second weakest performance among its volumes with three days of sales since Volume 21. Volume 28’s 102,628 copies sold is 31.89%, 12.72%, and 23.70% lower than Volume 22, Volume 24, and Volume 27, respectively. However, it is 6.16% higher than Volume 26. If the volume had charted for two more days, it might have faced difficulty in surpassing the sales of Volume 21, which reached 285,015 copies sold in five days.

One Punch-Man was adapted into a 12-episode TV Anime series by Madhouse in October 2015, and a sequel was aired in April 2019 by studio J.C.Staff. It is set to return with a sequel on an unannounced date.

Hikaru ga Shinda Natsu was last seen with its 2^nd volume at 71,097 copies sold in its first six days back in October 2022.

There are no direct comparisons to Kuubo Ibuki: Great Game Volume 10‘s 45,824 copies sold in its first six days. However, the latest sales figure is slightly better than Volume 9’s 48,514 copies sold in seven days, although it is still lower than the performance of Volume 7, which sold 51,623 copies in seven days.

Overall, when compared to other Sakamoto Days volumes within the first three days, Volume 12 surpasses Volume 6, Volume 7, and Volume 10 by 50.89%, 40.63%, and 8.11%, respectively. However, the latest volume still falls 4.41% short of Volume 9. Additionally, despite having a shorter period of sales, Volume 12 sold more copies than Volume 4 in its four-day sales and Volume 5 in its six-day sales.

There are no direct comparisons to the five-day sales of Mushikaburi-hime Volume 8. Overall, the performance has been somewhat stable, showing a clear and positive difference between the five-day sales of Volume 8 and the seven-day sales of Volume 6. If Volume 8 had charted for two more days, it would have achieved a similar outcome to Volume 5 and Volume 7.

Mushikaburi-hime had its Anime adaptation by Madhouse aired from October 6 to December 22, 2022 which lasted for 12 episodes.

Physical copies sold for Black Clover, as tracked by Oricon, continue to reflect a struggle, with the latest volume showcasing the series’ worst performance within the first three days since Volume 22. Volume 35 shows a decline compared to Volume 22, Volume 24 through Volume 26, Volume 28, Volume 29, Volume 33, and Volume 34. Additionally, Volume 35 is significantly lower than Volume 23, which sold 71,457 copies in its first two days.

Black Clover was adapted into a 170-episode TV Anime series by studio Pierrot that aired from October 2017 to March 2021. The series is also set to receive an animated film called Mahou Tei no Ken (or Sword of the Wizard King), which was originally scheduled for release in March 2023 but was delayed to June 16, 2023.

Blue Lock Volume 24 has sold 320,727 copies in its first 19 days.

Although Boruto: Naruto Next Generations has experienced a decline in copies sold compared to volumes like Volume 9, Volume 12, Volume 14, and Volume 15 within the first three days of sales, the latest performance shows a 3.59% and 0.18% improvement over the sales performances of Volume 18 and Volume 19.

Studio Pierrot adapted the Boruto into a TV Anime series that was initially broadcasted in April 2017 and ended on March 2023. Boruto Part 2 is currently in development, though its broadcast date is still unknown as of the time of writing.

Kinou Nani Tabeta? Volume 21 has sold 141,515 copies in its first 13 days.

Kinnikuman Volume 82 presents the worst performance in the series among volumes with three days of sales so far, showing a decline compared to Volume 69, Volume 72, Volume 74, Volume 75, Volume 80, and Volume 81. Additionally, if the newest volume had been charted for a couple of more days, it would have faced difficulties in surpassing the sales of other volumes in the past.

Kinnikuman was adapted into a 137-episode TV Anime series by Toei Animation in April 1983. Since then, it has received several film and TV sequel adaptations, such as the Ubawareta Championship Belt movie in July 1984 and the 46-episode sequel Kinnikusei Oui Soudatsu-hen. To celebrate its 40th anniversary, the series will receive a new Anime adaptation, although details such as the broadcast date are currently unknown.

Akane-banashi Volume 6 demonstrates a 22.91% improvement over Volume 4 but is 9.39% lower than Volume 5, both within their first three days of sales. When compared to Volume 3, which had six days of sales, the performance appears stable.

The Manga did not chart on Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart for Volume 8, but it appeared for Volume 7, Volume 9 and Volume 10 at 28,983 copies in four days, 34,261 copies in five days and 37,304 copies in six days, respectively. Overall, its performance looks stable.

Tensei shitara Slime Datta Ken Volume 23’s Regular Edition has reached 402,065 copies sold in its first 27 days.
