Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: July 31 – August 6, 2023

There are no direct comparisons as to the three-day sales of Chainsaw Man Volume 15. The 148,931 copies sold for the latest volume has certainly exhibited a lower outcome, particularly against Volume 10 to Volume 14. Despite these volumes having longer days of sales, their turnouts were nearly doubled than that of Volume 15. Volume 15, however, maintains its edge over Volumes 6 to Volume 9. For instance, sales are almost two times the numbers of copies sold for Volume 6’s 78,264 copies in its first five days.

MAPPA adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series which aired from October 12 to December 28, 2022.

This would be Kaijuu 8-gou‘s worst performance among volumes with three days of sales. Volume 10’s 112,331 copies sold is down more than 60% against Volume 3 to Volume 5. That said, the latest performance is still ahead of Volume 1 by 23.67%. All in all, the series is still trapped in a decline, though recovery may be in sight as it will see an Anime adaptation in next year’s month of April which should provide a boost if all goes well.

Kaijuu 8-gou is set to receive an Anime adaptation which is slated to air some time in April 2024 produced by studio Production I.G.

When compared to Volume 9, Made in Abyss Volume 12 has registered a 13.24% advantage in terms of copies sold. Volume 10 and Volume 11 were both successful in breaching Oricon’s sales charts in their own respective first four days and three days at 62,584 copies and 49,257 copies. Overall, sales remain stable.

In July 2017, the series was adapted into a 13-episode TV Anime series, and its sequel Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou was aired from July 6 to September 28, 2022. A new sequel, titled Retsujitsu no Ougonkyou (Zoku-hen) is currently in the works with no broadcast dates have been announced so far as of the time of writing.

Dragon Ball Super Volume 21 has the series’ weakest turnout so far since Volume 10 among volumes with three days of sales. The latest volume is down by as much as 35.64% and 38.72% against Volume 10 and Volume 14 respectively, plus selling about two times less against the five-day and four-day sales of Volume 11 and Volume 19.

The volume is titled “Kaiketsu Dr. Hedo” or “VS. Dr. Hedo”.

Between July 2015 and 2018, the work was adapted into a TV Anime series by Toei Animation.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 23 has reached 1,132,945 copies sold within its first 34 days.

The Fable: The Second Contact Volume 8 has noted an improvement against most volumes with three days of sales. The 51,462 copies sold by the latest volume is particularly higher than Volume 1 by 57.76%. However, it is lower than Volume 5 by 18.04%.

The Fable was announced to receive an Anime adaptation of which not much information about it is known as of the time of writing.

Kingdom Volume 69 have sold 484,578 copies in its first 19 days.

“Oshi no Ko” Volume 12 has reached 349,514 copies sold in its first 19 days.

Oni no Hanayome Volume 3 has achieved 123,277 copies sold in its first 10 days.

One Piece Volume 106 has reached 1,497,516 copies sold within its first 34 days.

Ao no Hako noted its worst drop in copies sold among volumes with three days of sales since Volume 2. Volume 11’s 38,706 copies sold are 9.85%, 4.80%, 4.92% and 16.96% down from Volume 4, Volume 5, Volume 8 and Volume 9 respectively. The latest volume is also not as good as Volume 6 which sold 62,209 copies in its first four days.

The volume is titled “Saikyou no Kanjou” or “The Strongest Feelings”.

Dandadan Volume 11‘s 33,734 copies are lower by 24.32%, 33.96% and 19.20% than Volume 3, Volume 4 and Volume 9 respectively, all volumes within the first three days of sales. Like Ao no Hako above, the newest volume has made its debut not as great as its past volumes with slightly longer days of sales such as Volume 6 at 69,814 copies sold in its first four days.

Honey Lemon Soda Volume 23 has achieved 113,041 copies sold in its first 13 days.

Blue Lock Volume 25 has sold 295,430 copies in its first 24 days for its Regular Edition.

Aku no Kadou wo Ikimashou Volume 3 did not sell as great in terms of copies sold when compared to Volume 2. The series also made an appearance with Volume 1 at 18,817 copies within the first six days.

Kono Oto Tomare! Volume 29 is the series’ weakest so far among the latest volumes with three days of sales. The 25,287 copies sold are 11.32%, 5.51% and 11.01% down from Volume 26 to Volume 28. Despite the drop, copies sold maintain above 25,000, therefore, exhibiting a slightly stable trend. Though, going forward, the series may see another drop in sales for Volume 30, based on stores tracked by Oricon.

Platinum Vision adapted the work into a 2-cour TV Anime series in April 2019 which ended its broadcast in December the same year.

Dragon Quest: Dai no Daibouken – Yuusha Avan to Gokuen no Maou Volume 8‘s 22,622 copies sold is 14.94% and 7.04% lower than Volume 4 and Volume 6. When compared to Volume 3’s 30,069 copies in four days, Volume 8 may have a hard time outpacing it considering its lower average per day of sales here.

The Regular Edition of Tokyo Aliens Volume 7 has sold 55,459 copies in its first 11 days.

Akane-banashi Volume 7 is not the series best among its latest volumes within the first three days. The 21,878 copies sold for the latest volume are 15.55% and 6.80% lower than Volume 5 and Volume 6, however, it is 14.55% more than Volume 4.

There is no direct comparison in terms of days of sales with Ryuukishi no Okiniiri Volume 7. That said, the copies sold for the latest volume are not as good as Volume 5 and Volume 6 (in their first four and five days respectively).

The Regular Edition of Shuumatsu no Walküre Volume 19 has sold 146,771 copies in its first 18 days.

The Regular Edition of Super no Ura de Yani Suu Futari has sold 66,429 copies in its first 13 days.

Blue Period Volume 14 has sold 90,743 copies in its first 17 days.
