Japan Top Weekly Manga Sales Ranking: July 17 – July 23, 2023

Kingdom Volume 69 has opened with less than that of the performances noted by volumes prior to Volume 67 as most, despite shorter days of sales, have sold more than the 346,076 copies sold by Volume 69. For instance, Volume 58 with 420,296 copies in just three days whereas the more recent Volume 67 was at 348,529 copies in four days. However, the latest volume does perform better than Volume 68 which sold 348,196 copies in six days in April 2023. This marks a welcoming improvement for the series, but there are still challenges ahead in repeating the outcome it has had with past volumes.

The series was adapted into a TV Anime series that spanned four seasons including a live-action movie adaptation in 2019 which starred Kento Yamazaki, Ryo Yoshizawa, Masami Nagasawa and many more. Season 5 of the Anime is currently in the works and is expected to begin broadcast in January 2024.

Debut sales for “Oshi no Ko” have catapulted to an all-time high as Volume 12 registered 228,821 copies sold within its first five days. Much of this significant boost in sales can be attributed to the success of its Anime adaptation that aired from April 12 to June 28, 2023. To compare, volumes with five days of sales prior to its Anime such as Volume 4, Volume 5 and Volume 9 were below the 100,000 mark with improvements noted by Volume 12 against these volumes at 143.02%, 140.45% and 197.63% respectively. It may have more legs the next coming weeks and may see its physical copies sold in Japan (as tracked by Oricon) breach the 300,000 mark the week between July 24 and July 30..

“Oshi no Ko” Was adapted into a TV Anime series by Doga Kobo aired from April 12 to June 28, 2023. Season 2 of the Anime was announced to be in the works, however, no broadcast dates were revealed. Doga Koba will return to helm the project.

Blue Lock Volume 25 has sold 223,596 copies in its first 10 days for its Regular Edition.

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 23 has reached 1,010,294 copies sold within its first 20 days.

One Piece Volume 106 has reached 1,401,729 copies sold within its first 20 days.

Haru no Arashi to Monster was last seen with its 2nd volume at 45,337 copies sold in its first seven days in March 2023. Its latest performance marks a major increase in units sold when compared to its previous volume.

There are no direct comparisons to Yofukashi no Uta Volume 17, however, the latest volume has noted a slight drop in sales against the four-day sales of Volume 13 and Volume 15 which were at 42,083 copies and 46,206 copies sold respectively.

Yofukashi no Uta was adapted into a 13-episode TV Anime series by LIDENFILMS which aired from July 8 to September 30, 2022.

When compared to other volumes with six days of sales, Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. Volume 30 has the weakest turnout. The 47,630 copies sold by the latest volume are 14.49%, 21.42%, 13.32% and 4.37% less than that of Volume 21, Volume 24, Volume 27 and Volume 29. Volume 30 has also sold less copies against volumes with shorter days of sales such as Volume 22 and Volume 28, both at 52,005 copies and 50,862 copies in their first five days.

Komi-san wa, Comyushou desu. was adapted into a TV Anime series by studio OLM that was aired in two separate cours with the first one in October 2021 while the other in April 2022.

Blue Period Volume 14 has noted a 17.35% drop in copies sold against Volume 10, both in three days. The latest volume would also have struggled to sell more than Volume 11 and Volume 13 had it a few days of sales more here amid lower average per day of sales against the two aforementioned volumes.

Blue Period was adapted into a 12-episode TV Anime series by Seven Arcs that aired from October 2 to December 18, 2021.

Together with its Regular Edition, Horimiya Volume 17 has sold 69,385 copies within its first six days with a revenue of 70,248,544 yen (≈503.62 thousand USD).

This version comes with everything in the Regular Edition plus a Memorial Book Bonus Track.

This is Tsuki ga Michibiku Isekai Douchuu‘s best performance so far among its latest three volumes. To compare, Volume 10 and Volume 11 sold 37,342 copies and 32,015 copies in their first six days and seven days respectively, of which Volume 12 would have easily overtaken had it gone on sale two or three additional days here.

Studio C2C adapted the work into a 12-episode TV Anime series that aired between July and September of 2021. A sequel to the Anime series is in the works and will air from January 2024. That said, studio C2C will not be returning to work on the show and the baton was passed over to studio J.C.Staff.

Shangri-La Frontier: Kusoge Hunter, Kamige ni Idoman to su Volume 14‘s Regular Edition has sold 56,898 copies in its first 10 days.

Hajime no Ippo Volume 138 has achieved 55,156 copies sold in its first 10 days.

Fundari, Kettari, Aishitari last made its debut with the 3rd volume selling 25,533 copies in its first four days in September 2022. The latest volume’s performance is an improvement over its last.

Yubisaki to Renren Volume 9 has sold copies in its first 11 days.

Against Volume 5, Majo Taisen: 32-nin no Isai no Majo wa Koroshiau Volume 7 has noted a 4.51% fall in copies sold, both in four days. The volume would have likely seen a similar turnout to Volume 6 had it been on sale here three more days, but it is unlikely to repeat the performances of Volume 3 and Volume 4.

Kanojo, Okarishimasu Volume 32 has sold 47,481 copies in its first 10 days.

Shuumatsu no Walküre Kitan: Jack the Ripper no Jikenbo was last seen with its 1st volume at 30,352 copies sold in its first week on Oricon’s Top 30 sales chart in March 2023.

Despite the really short days of sales, Mushoku Tensei: Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Volume 19 did perform well with its turnout quite likely to be similar with its past volumes had it a few more days here. Overall, the performance of the series’ Manga remains somewhat stable with no noticeable improvements although its latest Anime season is airing as of the time of writing.

In 2021, Studio Bind adapted the title into a two-cour TV Anime series and a second season is currently being broadcast as of the time of writing and is slated to last 12 episodes before Part 2 begins in April 2024.

It made an appearance on Oricon Top 30 sales chart with Volume 12 at 24,613 copies sold in its first 5 days but failed to do the same for Volume 13, however, the volume did make it onto COMIC ZIN’s list between February 13 and February 19, 2023. Volume 14’s 21,422 copies sold are not as good as Volume 12’s performance.

Shadows House was also adapted into a two-season TV Anime series by studio CloverWorks. The first was aired in April 2021 while the second was aired in July 2022.

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Volume 33 has sold 136,145 copies in its first 18 days.
