Mystery to Iu nakare Volume 12’s 196,014 copies sold in its first 6 days is perhaps the series’ best performance to date, particularly when compared to sales prior to Volume 11. The 6-day sales for its latest volume are 212.62% stronger than the performance of Volume 5 which made its debut at 62,701 copies sold in its first 5 days back in September 2019. Much of the boost you see here can be attributed to its live-action adaptation (that occurred from January to March 2022), however, the series had already gotten its initial boost from Volume 5 to Volume 10 after being nominated for a number of awards, plus winning one in January 2022.

Chainsaw Man Volume 13’s performance as of Week 2 is only second to that of Volume 11 since Volume 9 after a not so expected 324,220 copies sold in the first 13 days witnessed for Volume 12 despite having its Anime being aired throughout Fall 2022. The series did record an overall jump in sales since the Anime began, but newer volumes did not seem to reciprocate with lower turnouts noted for Volumes 12 and 13 in their first 6 days and 5 days. The 402,928 copies sold for Volume 13 as of Day 12 is certainly much stronger than Volume 12, though a tad bit lower than the 412,334 copies sold for Volume 11 in its first 11 days.

Hakumei to Mikochi Volume 11’s 31,072 copies sold is slightly down against Volume 10’s 35,190 copies sold by 11.70%, both in their first 2 days. Before that, the series was also seen with Volume 9 at 46,052 copies in its first 3 days while Volume 8 sold 53,518 copies in its first 6 days. Volume 11 would have had a hard time overtaking Volume 9 had it gone a day longer due to a lower average per day of sales that it has.

Hakumei to Mikochi was animated as a 12-episode Anime series by studio Lerche in 2018, and the very same year, it received a Special episode titled “Neji to Bed to Irori to Bakuchi”.

The Top 3 series remain the same as the week before with the exception of some movements with regards to their positions. Slam Dunk went up a spot to place 1st at 213.39 million yen (≈1.64 million USD), down week-on-week by 21.83%. Blue Lock moved up to 2nd place at 162.90 million yen (≈1.25 million USD), a fall of 34.68% from the week before whereas Chainsaw Man tumbled two spots to Number 3 to see physical sales worth 139.68 million yen (≈1.07 million USD) made, a drop of 53.04%. This puts Slam Dunk and Blue Lock sales for the entire month of December until January 15 at 1,561.41 million yen (≈12.00 million USD) and 1,156.77 million yen (≈8.89 million USD) respectively. Chainsaw Man, on the other hand, is at 437.13 million yen (≈3.36 million USD) from January 2 to January 15. All of the series here derived sales mostly from their Manga. All factors (Video, Music, Books, Novels and Manga) were considered for Slam Dunk, and as for Blue Lock and Chainsaw Man, only Video sales were opted out since their respective Blu-rays have not been released as of the time of writing.
