Serialization:ShounenSirius Serialization Date: Mar. 26, 2015 Official Web Page:Here Chapter 1 (JPN):Here
If we include the total copies sold for the volume’s Special Edition, the number would be nearly 110,000 copies, however, this is still far from the peak the series reached with its 16th volume which sold 212,169 copies back in March 2012, the highest it has achieved among volumes with 6 days of sales. The latest and final volume performed 11.86% stronger than Volume 45, though against others (including Volume 16) such as Volumes 14 to 16, 29, 37 and 40, it has reported fewer copies sold. Note that there are still other Limited Sets which copies sold may not be included or counted here such as the TSUTAYA’s versions that come with a bundle of acrylics. Therefore, actual physical copies sold may very well have exceeded the 115,000 copies sold mark.
Note. that Volume 50 without Special Edition
This is the final volume of the series.
Studio Madhouse also produced the first three seasons of itsAnime, and unfortunately no news of a sequel yet. The work was adapted into a live-action in 2016 which starred Suzu Hirose, Shuhei Nomura and Mackenyu.
5. Blue Lock Vol. 22 (NEW) by (Story) Muneyuki Kaneshiro and (Art) Yuusuke Nomura
Release Date: December 16, 2022 Days of Sales: 3 Price: 480 yen Publisher: Kodansha Estimated number of copies sold:78,295 Link (JPN):Vol. 22
Blue Lock Volume 22 has achieved its highest turnout among volumes with 3 days of sales. Copies sold have appreciated by 62.50%, 30.32% and 72.27% against Volumes 16, 17 and 20. It has also performed stronger against Volume 13’s 5-day sales of 68,107 copies, Volume 14’s 6-day sales of 79,726 copies.
Blue Lock is being adapted into a 24-episode TV Anime series by studio 8bit. The first episode was aired on October 9, 2022.
6. Arslan Senki Vol. 18 [Regular Edition](↓1.35%) by (Story) Yoshiki Tanaka and (Art) Hiromu Arakawa
Release Date: December 9, 2022 Days of Sales: 7 Price: 480 yen Publisher: Kodansha Estimated number of copies sold:53,031 Link (JPN):Vol. 18
Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou desu Volume 8 is slightly down by 10.77% against the debut sales of Volume 7 which sold 52,177 copies, both in their first 3 days. Nevertheless, the series’ latest performance is still above the 52,585 copies sold it made in 7 days for Volume 5 back in October 2020.
Seijo no Maryoku wa Bannou desu was adapted into a 12-episode TV Animeseries in April 2021 by studio Diomedéa. Season 2 is currently in the works and is expected to air in 2023 by the same studio, however, its exact date of broadcast is still unknown as of the time of writing.
9. Diamond no Ace Act II Vol. 32 (NEW) by Yuuji Terajima
Release Date: December 16, 2022 Days of Sales: 3 Price: 480 yen Publisher: Kodansha Estimated number of copies sold:44,391 Link (JPN):Vol. 32
This would be Diamond no Ace Act II weakest 3-day sales performance among the rest. Volume 32 experienced its biggest drop of 39.15% against Volume 18’s 72,948 copies but narrowed the gap by 13.37% against Volume 31’s 51,242 copies. Note that as for others, it experienced fewer copies sold by 37.81%, 24.92%, 27.68%, 14.84%, 20.59% and 27.64% against Volumes 20 to 22, 26, 27 and 29.
The series last made an appearance with its 8th volume at 23,860 copies sold in its first 3days back in May 2022. And before that, it sold 42,493 copies in its first 6 days. As such the 35,926 copies it sold for Volume 9 is a rather stable outcome.
It last made an appearance with Volume 20 at 32,060 copies sold in its first week on Oricon’s Top 30 chart back in September 2022. This makes the number of copies sold for Volume 21 as being 4.81% less than Volume 20.
Note that the Special Edition of the 11th volume did not even make it onto the Top 50 sales chart which cutoff point for the week was at around 16,000 copies. Therefore, the Special Edition may have sold within the 15,000 copies range. If that is truly the case, that would bump up the number of copies sold for the latest volume to roughly 43,000 copies which is higher than Volumes 8 and 9, but would still be less than that of Volume 10.
Note. that Volume 11 without Special Edition
An Anime adaptation is currently in the works at studio C2C which is set for broadcast in 2023 on an unannounced date.
16. Kawaii dake ja Nai Shikimori-san Vol. 16 (↑9.67%) by KeigoMaki
Release Date: December 9, 2022 Days of Sales: 7 Price: 650 yen Publisher: Kodansha Estimated number of copies sold: 27,481 Link (JPN):Vol. 16
Kanojo, Okarishimasu continues to perform poorly in terms of physical sales of its Manga in Japan. Volume 29 now presents its lowest turnout among its latest volumes with 3 days of sales. It recorded 45.87% fewer copies sold than Volume 20’s 50,566 copies, though the difference between Volume 29 and Volume 28 in terms of debut sales were much lower, at 7.96% with Volume 28 having the advantage. Copies sold were down by 18.16% against Volume 11, then 27.66% and 31.02% lower against Volumes 23 and 24. Against Volume 27, it is 8.18% less.
TMS Entertainment adapted the work into a 12-epsiode TV Anime series in July 2020 and later produced its second season which had just ended its broadcast on September 17.
18. Tokyo Revengers Vol. 30 (↓32.44%) by Ken Wakui
Release Date: November 17, 2022 Days of Sales: 7 Price: 480 yen Publisher: Kodansha Estimated number of copies sold: 27,155 Link (JPN):Vol.30
Megumi no Daigo: Kyuukoku no Orange Volume 6 noted fewer copies sold by 24.01% and 23.79% against Volumes 2 and 4. The series was also seen selling 20,444 copies for Volume 3 in its first 3 days and 30,449 copies for Volume 5 in its first 5 days.
A TV Anime series adaptation is confirmed to take place in 2023 by studio Brain’sBase. The date of broadcast is still unknown as of the time of writing.
22. Makai no Shuyaku wa Wareware da! Vol. 12 (↓54.78%) by Atsushi Tsudanuma
Release Date: December 8, 2022 Days of Sales: 7 Price: 480 yen Publisher: Akita Shoten Estimated number of copies sold: 23,879 Link (JPN):Vol. 12
Kakkou no Iinazuke Volume 15 seems to be quite low when compared to its other volumes, but that is because its Special Edition is not here on Top 30, nor it is in the Top 50’s list for the week. If it does, it may have sold in total around 40,000 copies (the cutoff point for Top 50 was 16,000 copies). Which is still low compared to Volumes 5 to 8 but will still hold an advantage over Volume 13. Yet, copies sold for Volume 15 may still be fewer than 40,000 and if it does, that would make the volume its weakest yet among those with 3 days of sales.
Slam Dunk tops the weekly series chart at 406.71 million yen(≈3.07 million USD) in sales made from all physical sales of its Video, Music, Books, Novels and Manga segments (with Manga being its highest) tracked by Oricon in Japan. Its performance was further fortified throughout the week thanks to the release of THE FIRST SLAM DUNK re:SOURCE that became the second best-selling Manga volume between December 12 and December 18. The series was also seen the week before, taking the 3rd spot with sales amounting to 252.99 million yen(≈1.91 million USD), putting the total sales from previous week and the latest week at a very comfortable 659.70 million yen(≈4.97 million USD).
Thanks to the release of its official soundtrack “Omoibana” that sold 243,221 copies in its first 5 days (Source: SinglesChart), Inori no Karute, the live-action drama series starring Tamamori Yuta, Ikeda Elaiza and many more took the second place at 311.22 million yen(≈2.35 million USD). For this particular series, physical sales for the week only comprise that of its Music, Books and Novels segments with Music being its biggest contributor.
Finally, we have Blue Lock settling in at Number 3 with 196.38 million yen(≈1.48 million USD), mainly driven by the release of its latest Manga volume. Total sales also took into account its Music, Books and Novels segments with Manga being its best segment for the week. Without further ado, the full list is as follows:
