Japan Top Weekly Manga Ranking: October 11, 2021 ~ October 17, 2021

Jujutsu Kaisen Volume 11 retains its Number 1 spot as it heads into its 3rd week on the chart. Number of copies sold have fallen significantly from the 1,096,464 copies it had the week before to 188,470 copies sold. That is a 82.81% reduction. Including pre-sales, it would seem that its performance is not up to par with Volumes 15 and Volume 16. Note that Volume 17 as of the week, has 14 days of sales (not including pre-sales), and Volumes 15 and Volume 16 two-week sales take into account 11 days and 10 days respectively, yet the two’s copies sold remain higher, in particular Volume 16.

As for Boku no Hero Academia Volume 32 which comes in 4th for the week at 86,995 copies sold, its two-week sales on the charts remain fairly stable. Volumes 30 and 31 had shorter days of sales, 10 days for the first while the latter had 12 days of sales. Average copies sold per day for both were around 45,000 copies. Note that the average tends to fall the longer the sales go as copies sold often drops on subsequent days. Volume 32’s average of 38,552 copies sold per day should be nearly identical to what its two previous volumes may have achieved.

It is thanks to the amazing people over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! Plus, all the data you find below is accessible via Oricon right here (Manga) and here (Series). I have also talked more about the titles you see below in my TSUTAYA and COMIC ZIN’s post, so be sure to check it out right here if you are interested!

Folowing tightly behind Jujutsu Kaisen at Number 2 is the Manga adaptation of the Light Novel of the same name, Watashi no Shiawase na Kekkon Volume 3 at 144,551 copies sold. If you head 3 spots down, you will find its Special Edition sitting comfortably at Number 5 with 77,999 copies sold for the week! In total, the title’s 3rd volume manages a very healthy 222,550 copies sold in its first 6 days! The title’s Light Novel too is quite popular in Japan. The 5th volume went on for eight weeks on Oricon’s sales chart to see a cumulative 147,741 copies sold within the period.

A spot below is the final volume of Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii with its 11th volume’s Regular Edition at 136,604 copies sold. The Special Edition can be found all the way at Number 15 at 32,355 copies sold, and together the two editions have accumulated 168,959 copies sold for the volume. This is a decent rise from Volume 10’s 143,357 copies, but at the time of the volume’s release, it had only 3 days of sales whereas Volume 11 has 4. Volume 9 may be its best so far since Volume 8. The longer 5 days of sales it had allowed copies sold to pass 200,000 copies sold, however Volume 11 is nowhere near it.

At Number 6 is Detective Conan Volume 100’s pre-sales at 67,852 copies sold. It is still unsure how many days of sales would that be, at most two I believe. Nevertheless, 67,852 copies in such a short span is a good indicator. We will see a drastic climb in sales the week after given that it will be having a full 7-day of sales. If all goes well, it may breach the 300,000 copies sold mark.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen Volume 11 places 7th at 60,337 copies sold. The stronger copies sold possessed by Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen Volume 11 over Volume 10 is thanks to the longer days of sales that the 11th volume has, but its sales trend is indicative that sales are on a decline for the title. Volume 8 for instance had the same number of days, yet it sold 74,329 copies. Volume 7 went on a day longer (for 6 days) and saw copies sold nearly hitting the 100,000 copies sold mark. Average sales per day started to drop from Volume 9 where it had 6 days of sales but could only push the number slightly higher than Volume 8.

Alternative View: Here

As for Blue Lock Volume 16, it is 8th at 48,181 copies sold for the week. Do not be fooled by the few number of copies sold it has as these are sales made within its first 3 days. Had it have a full 7-day of sales, it may very well see numbers close to 100,000 copies sold. The higher sales reached by its Volume 15 is due to its 6 days of sales, and Volume 14 had 7 days of sales.

Sitting in at 10th for the week is Enen no Shouboutai Volume 31. Copies sold stand at 39,565 copies in its first 3 days. Still, this is lower than the 3-day sales that Volume 24 and Volume 28 had. Both managed to sell 47,189 copies and 54,572 copies within the same period. Its sales trend suggest that copies sold may be on a slight decline, but some fluctuation is observed for example: Volume 26 and Volume 30, both had 6 days of sales however, Volume 30 sold a tad bit lower. Volume 25 and Volume 29 both had 4 days but Volume 29 went on to sell a little bit higher.

Top 11 to 30 witnesses a slew of new releases in its rank. Kanojo, Okarishimasu Volume 23 places 11th at 37,833 copies sold. While the title does exhibit some fluctuation in number of copies sold, it remains relatively stable so far with hints of a downward trend in its midst. That said, it reached its highest 3 days of sales with Volume 20 which then saw 50,566 copies off the shelves. Volume 23’s 3-day sales is closer to Volume 11’s 33,444 copies sold. Perhaps the 2nd season broadcast of its Anime may revitalize sales.
