Japan Top Weekly Manga Ranking: November 8, 2021 ~ November 14, 2021

Spy x Family Volume 8 saw its weakest two-week performance since Volume 4 as copies sold accumulated were at 572,592 copies on its 11th day compared to Volume 5’s 571,520 and Volume 7’s 712,393 copies as of day 10. The title saw its biggest two-week turnout on the chart for its 6th volume, but that is due to the longer period of sales of 14 days it had on the chart. Note that Volume 8 is still ahead of Volume 4’s 431,187 copies in its 2nd week on the chart, which at the time had 12 days of sales. It is still too early to consider a potential decline as more comparisons will need to be made with its future volumes. Let us see how it goes with Volumes 9 and 10.

It is thanks to the amazing people over at Oricon that we get to see these charts on a weekly basis, so be sure to head over to their site here and show them lots of love! Plus, all the data you find below is accessible via Oricon right here (Manga), here (Books) and here (Series). If you prefer Google charts, I have left their respective links all the way at the bottom of the post.

Having 7 days of sales on the chart, Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Volume 24 could see a strong turnout in the number of copies sold of 89,998. This is a lot better than the 1-week sales of Volume 17’s 68,760 copies and Volume 20’s 81,747 copies and could perhaps be its best performance since Volume 16. It may seem that the Anime is having a positive impact on the title.

Its related title places 3rd for the week with the 7th volume of Makai no Shuyaku wa Wareware da! Unfortunately, the title did not carry the momentum that Mairimashita! Iruma-kun has and instead witnessed a fall in copies sold debut-to-debut. For instance, Volumes 1 and 4 both had 7 days of sales, yet copies sold could be said to be better than the outcome of Volume 7. It is understandable that Volume 1 had a weaker turnout as it was still new at the time, however Volume 4 saw a much better performance of 91,954 copies sold. Volume 2 and volume 3 on the other hand, had only 6 days of sales when charted, but experienced stronger copies sold.

Kinou Nani Tabeta? Volume 19 which places 4th for the week faltered 10.27% debut-to-debut with its 18th volume’s 68,405 copies sold. The 19th volume could only manage 61,378 copies within the same period. This may signal a decline in the title’s performance since Volume 17 had only 4 days of sales when charted, yet copies sold were at a high 98,936 copies. Both Volumes 18 and 19 are nowhere that amount.

Skip over to Number 6, and you will find Tensei Kenja no Isekai Life Volume 14 at 52,675 copies sold in its first 4 days. This is weaker than sales of Volume 7 which at the time of its release sold 57,619 copies in its first 4 days. Volumes 9 to 12 all had fewer copies sold due to its shorter 3 days of sales. Volume 10 was rather unlucky as it could not place itself on the Top 30 chart due to intense competition at the time. Note that the Manga is the adaptation of the Light Novel of the same name. It is being published via Square Enix’s Manga Up! magazine with its first official English edition coming out this coming December the 14th.

Ao Ashi reported a very commendable result for its 25th volume which sold 103,091 copies in its first week. While Volume 26’s numbers may seem small, it is due to its shorter days of sales of 3 days. That said, it is still far weaker than sales of Volumes 22 to 24, all had the same number of days as Volume 26 when charted. This could mark its weakest performance since Volume 18. Note that it will soon receive an Anime adaptation in Spring 2022, thus it may see its sales revitalize then.

But of course, the week’s chart is much better than a week ago with a plethora of new releases making their way onto the chart. At Number 8 is a title you may be familiar with given that its Anime adaptation recently ended on July the 3rd. Copies sold for Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? Volume 11 is at 45,361 copies. It last made its appearance for Volume 10 which placed 28th out of 30 back in April 2021 with 40,717 copies sold.

Then we have Mika Yamamori’s Uruwashi no Yoi no Tsuki Volume 3 at 44,385 copies in its first 3 days. The title was last seen with sales of its 2nd volume placing 2nd at 57,538 copies back between May 10 to May 16. The same volume went on to see 30,195 copies sold in its 2nd week on the chart bringing its total sales to 87,733 copies.

Aoshima-kun wa Ijiwaru Volume 3 is 10th at 43,364 copies sold in its first 3 days. The printed copies of the series are brought to you by Taiseisha, and are serialized via the publisher’s Only Lip Comics magazine. Some of its chapters can be read for free in Japanese right here, so do give them a look!
